The Dallas Cowboys have selected San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar with the 49th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Fantasy analysis: Escobar is an athletic, pass-catching hybrid tight end. He could see time flexed into the slot in 2013 and should be on the field a fair amount in passing situations. While his blocking is suspect, it's not too poor to be corrected by good coaching.
Clearly, Tony Romo loves to rely on Jason Witten. Dez Bryant emerged as Dallas' No. 1 wide receiver last year, and Miles Austin is still in the mix for balls. Escobar may have a tough time finding meaningful looks for fantasy purposes. He has long-term value as Witten's possible eventual replacement. Temper your expectations for 2013.
