"We're still being cautious. I look at this as more of a setback than I did the last couple of days. He can't throw and hit. He can still track (pitches), do baserunning, fly balls. "The rules are that if he shows up to the meeting that they have, he cannot come back with us," Roenicke said. SP | Brad Lincoln | Toronto Blue Jays | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy,
The Toronto Blue Jays will use SP Brad Lincoln out of the bullpen rather than stretch him out as a starter this spring. Earlier in the spring, there was a plan for Lincoln to pitch multiple innings. "We have kind of backed off that (having him start) a little bit," manager John Gibbons said Sunday, March 3. "What's his strength going to be? He's got a shot to make the team in that multiple-inning role. He's been so good out of the bullpen in shorter stints. That's kind of what we're looking at now." Arizona Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson (elbow) is currently rehabbing his way back from Tommy John surgery last year. He said he'll make sure not to overdo things during his between-starts throwing sessions when he eventually makes his way back. RP | Daniel Bard | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy,
The Boston Red Sox planned to use RP Daniel Bard in the Grapefruit League spring game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, March 1, but instead he spent the day working on his delivery outside of a game situation with pitching coach Juan Nieves. "We're just trying to work out his lower half, more stride direction, so he had a work day just throwing on a line where there's some lateral type drills where we're trying to get that stride direction consistent," manager John Farrell said. The new plan is for Bard to throw a bullpen session Saturday, March 2, and then pitch in a game Monday, March 4.

RP | Eric O'Flaherty | Atlanta Braves | Injury,
Atlanta Braves RP Eric O'Flaherty (back) has not deal with any discomfort in his back through the first three weeks of spring training, but managed Fredi Gonzalez said Friday, March 1, that the decision made to delay his first appearance until at least the second week of the exhibition season was due to his previous history with back problems. "I did a lot of work in the offseason, and my back has never felt better than it does right now," O'Flaherty said. "It has not been an issue at all."

RP | Jordan Walden | Atlanta Braves | Injury, Fantasy,
Atlanta Braves RP Jordan Walden (back) has been dealing with what he describes as "tightness in his back." He has been taking anti-inflammatory medication and completing rehab exercises. The back discomfort could keep him sidelined for at least another week.

RP | Craig Breslow | Boston Red Sox | Injury,
Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox RP Craig Breslow (shoulder) will begin a flat-ground throwing program Saturday, March 2. Barring any setbacks, the team feels he has time to get ready for the regular season. He will need roughly 10 days throwing before he can get back on a mound.

RP | Alfredo Aceves | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said Friday, March 1, that RP Alfredo Aceves has been acting "like a model citizen" in camp lately after an early issue which he lobbed pitches towards home plate in live batting practice.

RP | Kelvin Herrera | Kansas City Royals | Fantasy,
Kansas City Royals RP Kelvin Herrera is making it a point to improve his curveball this spring. "I want to be able to mix that in more with my other pitches," he said. "I want to throw it more often. I want to gain enough confidence in my breaking ball to do that. I've been throwing it a lot (in practice), and I feel good about it."

RP | Frank Francisco | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy,
New York Mets manager Terry Collins isn't optimistic that RP Frank Francisco (elbow), who just started throwing on flat ground this week, will be ready for opening day. "I don't think Frankie's going to be ready for opening day, so it'll be Bobby (Parnell)," Terry Collins told WFAN about the closer's role. "And you know what? He can take that job and run with it."

RP | LaTroy Hawkins | New York Mets | Injury,
New York Mets RPs LaTroy Hawkins, Pedro Feliciano and Tim Byrdak (shoulder) have to be told by March 26 whether they've made the roster or they'll earn $100,000 to be sent to the minors. The Mets could also choose to flat out release them. Hawkins appears to be a lock for the bullpen and Feliciano is a leading contender as well. Byrdak's deadline is a non-issue signed the team signed him knowing he wouldn't be ready for the start of the season.

RP | Chris Perez | Cleveland Indians | Injury, Fantasy,
The Cleveland Indians have made it clear that they don't want RP Chris Perez (shoulder) to rush to be ready for opening day.

RP | Garrett Olson | Oakland Athletics | Injury,

RP | Jonathan Papelbon | Philadelphia Phillies | Fantasy,

RP | Casey Janssen | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy,
Toronto Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen (shoulder) has been feeling good during his long toss program recently, but the next seven to 10 days will be pivotal if he's going to be ready for opening day. Janssen still hasn't thrown off a mound or faced hitters this spring.

RP | Sergio Santos | Toronto Blue Jays | Injury, Fantasy,
Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos has allowed just one baserunner in two spring innings so far and scouts are buzzing about him this spring. RP Casey Janssen (shoulder) is still recovering from shoulder surgery, so Santos could open the season as the closer. "I thought he was really sharp (Thursday) in Tampa. He had all his pitches working. He commanded his fastball. He showed a few of his old devastating sliders, and his offspeed stuff was there. So we're very happy with where he is," manager John Gibbons said. Santos has hit 95 mph on the radar gun in a spring game.

RP | Grant Balfour | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy,
Oakland Athletics RP Grant Balfour (knee) threw 25 pitches off a mound Friday, March 1, and he should be pitching in spring games in two weeks barring a setback. Pitching coach Curt Young thinks Balfour was at "91 percent" effort level. He's not being allowed to run yet and still has some stiffness in his knee. It will likely be another week before he has full range of motion.

RP | Mark Prior | Cincinnati Reds | Transaction,
The Cincinnati Reds signed free-agent RP Mark Prior (Red Sox) to a minor league deal Friday, March 1.

RP | Vinnie Pestano | Cleveland Indians | Injury, Fantasy,
Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez's (shoulder) shoulder strain will keep him from participating for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, and he is at risk of not being ready for opening day. He is dealing with a subscapularis strain and will be shut down for seven to 10 days. Perez, however, isn't too worried about the injury. RP Vinnie Pestano, who is a candidate to close if Perez misses regular season time, still plans on playing in the WBC.
