Quarterback

QB | Alex Smith | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly completed a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for QB Alex Smith, although the deal will not be official until March 12. The compensation is unclear at this point; however, the Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

QB | Joe Flacco | Free Agent | Free Agents
The agent for Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent QB Joe Flacco, Joe Linta, said New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's new deal will have no impact on his client's negotiations with the Ravens. "It doesn't matter. It's an extension for cap purposes," Linta said of Brady's deal. "The bottom line is, whether Brady took a pay cut or took $27 million a year, it wouldn't have an impact on what we're doing. We've determined a number that we think is fair with respect for the Ravens' cap situation."

QB | Bruce Gradkowski | Free Agent | Draft, Free Agents
The Cincinnati Bengals could look to select a backup quarterback in the NFL Draft, particularly with QB Bruce Gradkowski an impending free agent. The Bengals have only selected four quarterbacks in the draft since 2003.

QB | Ryan Mallett | New England Patriots | Transaction, Fantasy
The New England Patriots are not actively shopping backup QB Ryan Mallett, according to a source. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, all players drafted after 2011 or later cannot restructure their contract until they complete their third season. So that's a snag, as any team that acquires Mallett can't sign him to an extension until next year, which could take away from some of his value.

QB | Brandon Weeden | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson said in an off camera interview that QB Brandon Weeden had trouble reading defenses and that the offense had to be toned down at times because of it in 2012.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Transaction
The Pittsburgh Steelers and QB Ben Roethlisberger are working on renegotiating the quarterback's contract, and it is possible the two sides could have an agreement before the end of the week. The contract is not expected to be extended at this point, but that could happen next offseason.

Running Back

RB | Jeff Demps | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Jeff Demps is planning to return to track and field. However, he does not intend on ending his football career. He competed as a member of the United States track and field team in the 2012 London Olympics, winning a silver medal as a member of the Men's 4 x 100 meter relay team.

RB | Christine Michael | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Texas A&M RB Christine Michael helped his stock at the NFL Scouting Combine by ending up as a top performer at his position in five events. However, he also overslept and missed two team interviews.

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson said he thinks the team will be a playoff team in 2013. "For the most part, I'm pretty sure that we're going to be a playoff team," Richardson said. "I expect it. We are hoping, and we are knowing that we are going to be there next year."

RB | Reggie Bush | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Detroit Lions have legitimate interest in signing free-agent RB Reggie Bush (Dolphins).

Wide Receiver

WR | Steve Breaston | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent WR Steve Breaston (Chiefs) is having a physical for the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, Feb. 27, according to a source.

WR | Victor Cruz | New York Giants | Free Agents
Negotiations between the New York Giants and restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz are at a stalemate. Cruz still has a desire to sign a long-term deal as soon as possible. "Hopefully we can end that talk soon, man," Cruz said. "Hopefully we can get a deal done, if not with the Giants then unfortunately somewhere else. But I want to be a Giant for a long time, so we'll see how it goes." At this point, the most likely scenario still appears to be the team placing a first-round tender on Cruz, guaranteeing him a one-year salary of approximately $2.9 million. That would give Cruz the right to seek offers from other teams; however, the Giants would have the right to match and the right to compensation in the form of a first-round pick if they don't.

WR | Keenan Allen | NFL Draft Prospect | Injury, Draft
University of California WR Keenan Allen (knee), who did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine due to a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his knee, will have his Pro Day in North Carolina April 9.

Tight End

TE | Nick Kasa | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Colorado TE Nick Kasa said he was asked by undisclosed teams multiple questions that touched on sexual preference at the NFL Scouting Combine. "They ask you like, 'Do you have a girlfriend?' Are you married?' Do you like girls?'" Kasa said. "Those kinds of things, and you know it was just kind of weird. But they would ask you with a straight face, and it's a pretty weird experience altogether."

TE | Fred Davis | Free Agent | Free Agents
Washington Redskins impending free-agent TE Fred Davis (Achilles') was cleared to play by Dr. Robert Anderson Tuesday, Feb. 26. Anderson said Davis is healing well and will be back at full strength for organized team activities.

Offensive Tackle

OT | Branden Albert | Free Agent | Draft, Free Agents
The Kansas City Chiefs are still interested in retaining impending free-agent OT Branden Albert; however, the team could very well take Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. The Chiefs could let Albert walk, draft Joeckel and use the money intended for Albert to help improve other areas.

OT | Eric Fisher | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
The Oakland Raiders will consider Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher with the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft, if Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel is gone within the first two picks.

OT | David Diehl | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants OT David Diehl (knee) had a scope on his right knee following the season, and he is expected to be ready for the start of offseason workouts April 15, according to a person with knowledge of the procedure.

OT | Riley Reiff | Detroit Lions | Draft
The Detroit Lions could turn to offensive tackle with their No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Despite drafting OT Riley Reiff in the first round last year, Detroit still has a need at left tackle. Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher could be their target, as Lions general manager Martin Mayhew scouted Fisher last year.

Guard

OG | Evan Dietrich-Smith | Green Bay Packers | Draft, Free Agents
The Green Bay Packers contract negotiator met with the agent for restricted free-agent OG Evan Dietrich-Smith at the NFL Scouting Combine. It might be a sign the team is ready to make Dietrich-Smith their center of the future with a long-term deal. The team also met with Dietrich-Smith's agent at the Pro Bowl last month.

Cornerback

CB | Charles Woodson | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent CB Charles Woodson (Packers) may have difficulty landing with a new team this offseason, according to Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell. "I think it will be tough," said Caldwell, who isn't interested in signing Woodson. "But it only takes one team that says, 'Hey, this is a big need for us. This is our year and he may give us a (lift).' He still has a little juice in his legs." An unnamed scout added he has concerns whether Woodson is a leader. "To me, he's got another year or two left in the tank, probably in a situational playing capacity as an inside player. I think he could start at safety, but you'd be worried a little bit.
