1) Ian Kennedy, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Team: Pasko Varnica, Mastersball | Roster

Projected for Kennedy are 14 wins, 200 innings and around 200 Ks. He belongs to the high tier of pitchers.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Norichika Aoki
Aoki A-OK here

2) Norichika Aoki, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

Team: Howard Bender, FanGraphs | Roster

Needed to fill up the outfield soon and could use some plus-speed. Aoki platooned for almost the entire first two months of last year and still hit 10 HR and swiped 30 bags. He's full-time headed into this season and even just a repeat of last year's totals makes him a solid pick.

3) Kendrys Morales, 1B, Seattle Mariners

Team: Nicholas Minnix, KFFL | Roster

One of the players I was bummed I didn't get with my last pick was Paul Konerko, whom Tim drafted one spot before mine. I want a dangerous, high-upside corner man, and that will almost certainly be a first-base-eligible player and not a third baseman. Morales missed 2011 but was pretty productive in 2012, nonetheless. He should be at full strength, now, and approach 2009 levels of output. I was set on taking someone at the position and was confident that Morales would make it around the turn based on the composition of the rosters of owners behind me.

4) C.J. Wilson, SP, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Team: Tim Heaney, KFFL | Roster

Luckily, despite Brandon Morrow and Ian Kennedy falling in the last handful of picks, one of my targets was available. Wilson, despite his sometimes shaky control, should rebound. I'm glad I got another SP capable of 8.00-plus K's per nine to back up Strasburg, especially so late in the process.

5) Jake Peavy, SP, Chicago White Sox

Team: Mark Chamberlin, Baseball Sharks | Roster

I did not plan to take 3 starting arms in the first 12 rounds, but this is too good of a value to pass up. He hasn't had a xFIP above 4.00 since 2003 and while the K's are going down so are the BB's; skills still there ... but is health? Only issue, albeit a big one.

6) Jeff Samardzija, SP, Chicago Cubs

Team: Steve Gardner, USA TODAY/Sports Weekly | Roster

Although I think Samardzija will have a decent year, I didn't really care for this pick after I made it. He'll give me some of the strikeouts I may lose with Cueto, but his track record of success as a starter is limited to last season. I considered Josh Johnson of the Jays, who went next.

The last six picks await.
