With another week of the National Hockey League season in the books, it is time once again to check out our Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire analysis. Who are the players you need to know about as we head into another week of fantasy hockey that can help you win your week?
Zack Kassian, left wing, Vancouver Canucks
If you have found yourself looking to add a forward that can also add a little bit of grit to your roster, Kassian is a must-add for your roster. The Canucks forward has found the back of the net three times in the past week, with two coming with the man advantage. Kassian is also a threat to drop the gloves and could contribute to the penalty minutes category as well. Kassian is owned in only 30 percent of all fantasy leagues polled.
Matt Frattin, right wing, Toronto Maple Leafs
Frattin has been on fire since being called up from the American Hockey League, collecting four goals and two assists in the past week. Frattin had 11:31 of ice time Thursday night and appears to be taking advantage of it. Frattin is owned in only 6 percent of all fantasy leagues polled, and if he continues to chip in offensively at his current pace that number will continue to rise quickly.
Tom Gilbert, defenseman, Minnesota Wild
Gilbert has been offensively potent for the Wild, collecting two goals and four assists in the past week. Gilbert contributed one assist on the power play, as well. One thing that should play in Gilbert's favor as the season rolls on is familiarity with some of his newer teammates that were acquired last summer. Gilbert is owned in only 10 percent of all fantasy leagues polled.
Victor Hedman, defenseman, Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning has scored more goals than anyone else in the National Hockey League, and Hedman is becoming a part of that. Hedman has two goals and four points in the past three games. As long as the Lightning continues to spread out the scoring the way they have, Hedman is a player that could help your team on the fantasy blue line. The defenseman is still available in 50 percent of the fantasy hockey leagues polled.
Frans Nielson, center, New York Islanders
Nielson capped off an impressive week for the Islanders Thursday night with a two-assist effort, giving him seven points, all assists, on the week. Five of those points came on the power play. Nielson's week can't go unnoticed. It is also worth noting that the Islanders as a whole have been playing well, just completing a 3-1-1 road trip, and Neilson was a big part of. If you are looking for contributions both offensively and on the power play, you need to consider Neilson, who is owned in only 4 percent of all fantasy hockey leagues polled.
That will do it for this week's edition of the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire. Make sure you stay with KFFL.com all season long to stay up with the latest and greatest in the fantasy hockey world as we help you win your league.
