West Virginia QB Geno Smith could be a possibility for the Philadelphia Eagles to select in the NFL Draft, particularly with the arrival of new head coach Chip Kelly, if he is still on the board at No. 4 overall.

QB | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) will not participate in the Pro Bowl. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday, Jan. 15, on his weekly radio show that Rodgers failed his physical because of lower leg injuries, but he did not offer specifics other than the injury is to Rodgers' knee.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel, who was benched this season, will be due over $16 million in base salary over the next two seasons. It is likely Cassel will be cut.

QB | Peyton Manning | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos president John Elway said the team plans on picking up QB Peyton Manning's option for the next two seasons, which would pay him $40 million over the next two years. Manning must first pass a physical this winter to be guaranteed the money. "I don't think he's going anywhere," owner Pat Bowlen said. "I got more than I expected."

QB | Russell Wilson | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said it would be nice to have another quarterback on the roster that has the similar skillset to that of QB Russell Wilson. "We've talked a lot about that," Carroll said. "It would be nice to have another guy that might be able to be a factor that way. There's some really good kids out there. We'll see." It remains to be seen if Seattle is willing to trade QB Matt Flynn.


Running Back

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (knee) said he feels good and will play in the AFC Championship Game.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was a stud in his return from knee surgery, gaining over 1,500 yards on the ground. While RB Peyton Hillis, an unrestricted free agent, is not likely to be back. However, FB Nate Eachus and RB Shaun Draughn provide some decent depth, as well as RB Cyrus Gray. New head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey aren't expected to have to tinker much with this position.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he doesn't think RB Marshawn Lynch (foot) was limited in the team's loss in the Divisional Round game against the Atlanta Falcons. "I don't think we made as much space for him," Carroll said. "I think they did a nice job playing defense against us. We had so many opportunities in the throwing game, it was just there. And so we just kept exercising it."


Wide Receiver

The Buffalo Bills are not expected to re-sign impending free-agent WR Ruvell Martin because they will look for an upgrade at wide receiver this offseason.

WR | Brandon Marshall | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous item, Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (hip) said he underwent a minor procedure on his hip late Tuesday, Jan. 15. "Just a little clean up," Marshall said. He's had hip procedures in the past, but Marshall insisted the injury isn't an issue. He will not, however, play in the Pro Bowl.

WR | Demaryius Thomas | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas was voted as a first alternate for the Pro Bowl, and he would go to Hawaii if another receiver withdraws due to injury or the New England Patriots advance to the Super Bowl. Patriots WR Wes Welker was one of four receivers chosen to the AFC team, so Thomas would replace him if the Patriots defeat the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 20.

WR | Vincent Jackson | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster to replace Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson.


Tight End

TE | Tony Moeaki | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (knee) was not the same this season after coming back from knee surgery, and TE Jake O'Connell was not much of a weapon. This position might be in for an overhaul with new head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey taking over.

Chicago Bears TE Matt Spaeth (knee) had arthroscopic knee surgery late last week. He had to miss a portion of last offseason due to swelling in the knee caused by debris, and his latest problem is believed to have been the same cause.

TE | Jared Cook | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans TE Jared Cook questioned some of the team's decisions to fire their assistant coaches. "I didn't get Frank Bush at all, and I don't get Coach Z either," Cook said. "I am very surprised at that, very surprised. I just don't understand that move. Point blank. Period. I mean, Coach Z was a great run blocking coach and he really explained the run game and he really broke things down to where you could really understand things better."

Seattle Seahawks OT James Carpenter (knee) is expected to be ready for the team's offseason training program in March. "He absolutely should be healthy. There's no reason not to be physically right. We're going to be off for like three months or something. And he'll be in great shape," head coach Pete Carroll said.


Guard

OG | Lance Louis | Chicago Bears | Injury
Chicago Bears OG Lance Louis (knee) has been doing daily rehab work since the team's season ended Dec. 30, as he makes his way back from a torn left anterior cruciate ligament. There is no specific date for Louis to return, but he is said to be progressing on-schedule.

OG | Allen Barbre | Philadelphia Eagles | Transaction
The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent OT Allen Barbre (Seahawks) to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, Jan. 15.


Defensive Line

DL | Alan Branch | Free Agent | Free Agents
Seattle Seahawks impending free-agent DT Alan Branch wants to re-sign with the team. "Hopefully they want me here and the whole money situation gets settled," he said. "If not, there won't be a better group of guys than this, for sure. But we'll see."

DL | Spencer Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Free Agents
The Buffalo Bills could show interest in re-signing impending free-agent DL Spencer Johnson this offseason but it would likely be for less than the $4 million he made this season.

Green Bay Packers defensive line coach Mike Trgovac said Tuesday, Jan. 15, that DE Jerel Worthy (knee) had surgery on his knee. However, Trgovac was unaware of exactly what was repaired. Worthy is expected to miss the entire offseason.

DL | Chris Clemons | Seattle Seahawks | Injury
Seattle Seahawks DE Chris Clemons (knee) has not had surgery to fix an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear in his left knee, but he will meet with Dr. James Andrews this week. His knee didn't suffer too much trauma, so he could have the surgery soon.


Defensive End

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent LB Shawne Merriman said he would be willing to re-sign with the team this offseason because he has a good relationship with general manager Buddy Nix.


Linebacker

Strong Safety

SS | Bryan Scott | Buffalo Bills | Free Agents
Buffalo Bills impending free-agent FS Bryan Scott said he hopes to re-sign with the team next season. He was used as a nickel linebacker this season and recorded four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

SS | Craig Steltz | Chicago Bears | Injury
Chicago Bears SS Craig Steltz (pectoral) underwent surgery to repair a torn right pectoral tendon Dec. 15. He spent several weeks in a sling, but he is now out of the sling and expected to be fully recovered when the team officially begins their offseason program in a couple of months.

SS | Bernard Pollard | Baltimore Ravens | Injury
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh did not offer much of an update to RB Bernard Pollard's (knee) knee issue. "He seems like he is feeling good," Harbaugh said with a smile. "He was in good spirits. He had a big smile on his face. He had a nice big lunch. He seemed like he was happy. I think his son slept the whole night last night, so he was happy."


Free Safety
