Free-agent INF Jeff Keppinger (Rays), who hit a career-high .325 for the Tampa Bay Rays last season, recently broke his right leg after tripping on stairs at his house, reported. Keppinger is recuperating from surgery to what is said to be a small break, according to the report, with the expectation he still will be ready for spring training. The New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks are among interested teams, but Keppinger said at the end of the season he'd like to return to the Rays.


SS | Brandon Hicks | New York Mets | Transaction
The New York Mets acquired SS Brandon Hicks from the Oakland Athletics Monday, Nov. 26, in exchange for cash considerations.

SS | Starlin Castro | Chicago Cubs | Fantasy
The Chicago Cubs could look to dangle SS Starlin Castro to the Miami Marlins in hopes of acquiring OF Giancarlo Stanton. However, Miami is unlikely to want to take on Castro's $60 million contract, and they already have SS Adeiny Hechavarria, who they just traded for this offseason. Castro doesn't have no-trade protection.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed free-agent 3B Mark Teahen (Nationals) to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

3B | Evan Longoria | Tampa Bay Rays | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria will make $6 million next season, $7.5 million in 2014, $11 million in 2015, $12.1 million in 2016, $13 million in 2017, $13.5 million in 2018, $14.5 million in 2019, $15 million in 2020, $18.5 million in 2021 and $19.5 million in 2022. His 2023 option is worth $13 million plus incentives with a $5 million buyout. He'll receive a $1 million signing bonus. Longoria will be due $2 million if he is traded, likely by the acquiring team.
