Quarterback

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said QB Robert Griffin III (concussion) will participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 10, and will undergo a concussion test after practice.

QB | Tim Tebow | New York Jets | Injury
The New York Jets wasted two timeouts and hurried another play in the fourth quarter of Week 5, and the common denominator was the QB Tim Tebow package. Head coach Rex Ryan insists he still likes the package, and said things got out of whack when WR Clyde Gates (shoulder) left with a shoulder injury. As a result, the team had to use recently-signed WR Jason Hill in some of the Tebow packages. "It's just that we had to put somebody in, in an unfamiliar position for him," Ryan said. "(He) hadn't practiced it. Hopefully, we get guys that will be here longer than three or four days or whatever (and) maybe he'll pick it up."

QB | Kirk Cousins | Washington Redskins | Injury
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he will be better if he receives another chance to start at quarterback. Cousins threw two costly interceptions in relief of QB Robert Griffin III (concussion) in Week 5. "As a quarterback, you have to take the good with the bad, but I would just call them two critical errors," Cousins said. "Besides those two plays, beyond that, it was good football, but those two critical errors are what quarterbacks get killed on. You've got to avoid those. I will learn from those and be a much better quarterback after going through that."

QB | Rex Grossman | Washington Redskins | Injury, , Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins would likely get his first NFL start in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings if QB Robert Griffin III (concussion) suffers any sort of setback this week following a concussion in the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. The team also has QB Rex Grossman on the roster, but he has been inactive in each of the team's five games this season.

QB | Jake Locker | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (shoulder), LB Colin McCarthy (ankle) and OT Mike Otto (knee) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Running Back

RB | Vick Ballard | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) will not play in Week 6. Brown had surgery Tuesday, Oct. 9, to repair torn knee cartilage. RB Vick Ballard will start in Brown's place.

RB | Chris Ivory | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Free Agents, Fantasy
The Arizona Cardinals lost RB Ryan Williams (shoulder) to season-ending Injured Reserve, and there are rumors flying around about potential targets either through free agency or trade. One name that makes sense is New Orleans Saints RB Chris Ivory through trade, or former Cardinals RB and current free-agent Tim Hightower (Redskins). However, the latter is unlikely, as he is still not all the way back from a knee issue.

RB | Shonn Greene | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Jets RB Shonn Greene technically remains the starting running back, although he was on the field for one fewer offensive snap than RB Bilal Powell in the team's Week 5 game Monday, Oct. 8, against the Houston Texans.

RB | Rashard Mendenhall | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 9.

RB | Shaun Draughn | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to continue to pound the ball on the ground, regardless of who their quarterback is under center. They ran the ball 49 times compared to 19 pass plays in their Week 5 loss, and they rank second in the league in rushing. RB Jamaal Charles leads the league with 551 yards and is tied for third with 102 attempts. RB Shaun Draughn carried the ball 12 times and RB Cyrus Gray had four carries last week. RB Peyton Hillis (ankle) will be involved, too, when he returns from injury.

RB | Jahvid Best | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best (concussion) will undergo tests this week to determine if he can be taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list, and if he passes the tests, he could be activated as soon as Monday, Oct. 15. "He's in very good physical shape," head coach Jim Schwartz said. "Each guy is a little bit different. We took an open mind with Mikel (Leshoure) when he came back. He was able to come back and have a really good opening game. We're too far away there." Schwarz thinks Best could play right away after he returns, and he said that Best is in the best shape of his career.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (toe) was not close to playing in the team's Week 5 game, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak added Tate was doing much better Tuesday, Oct. 9.

RB | Lamar Miller | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Fantasy
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller didn't play in a single offensive snap in Week 5, but he could be used more often with RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) leaving the game with his second concussion in five weeks. The team hasn't been happy with Miller's awareness on the field so far, though, and his pass blocking hasn't been good.

Wide Receiver

WR | Trindon Holliday | Free Agent | Transaction
The Houston Texans have released WR Trindon Holliday.

WR | Ramses Barden | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants WR Ramses Barden (concussion) will practice Wednesday, Oct. 10.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury
The New York Jets struggled with the Houston Texans' pressure in Week 5. The Texans sent five or more pass rushers on 21 of the Jets' 35 dropbacks (60 percent). Teams will likely continue to blitz the Jets without WR Santonio Holmes (foot) in the lineup as they have no proven threats on the outside that might dissuade opponents from sending the house.

WR | Jason Hill | New York Jets | Injury

WR | Plaxico Burress | Free Agent | Injury, Free Agents, Fantasy
Free-agent WR Plaxico Burress (Jets) said Tuesday, Oct. 9, that he is interested in joining the Chicago Bears if they want a veteran receiver to replace the injured WR Alshon Jeffery (hand). Burress has been keeping in shape, and talked to his agent to express an interest in the team. "I'm going to tell him if an opportunity in Chicago presents itself, I want to go now," Burress said. "I just want to go out and play."

WR | Jerome Simpson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
The Minnesota Vikings plan to determine their course of action with WR Jerome Simpson (leg) Wednesday, Oct. 10, after running tests the past two days, according to league sources. It is believed Simpson might have an issue with a disc that is causing weakness and numbness in one of his legs. The extent of the injury, and how Simpson and the team treat the issue, is unknown. If he requires microdiscetomy surgery, he would miss about six weeks, sidelining him through the team's bye in Week 11.

WR | Chaz Schilens | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Chaz Schilens led the wide receivers corps in Week 5 against the Houston Texans Monday, Oct. 8, with 52 offensive snaps, or 91 percent of the team's plays. WR Jason Hill was on the field for 21 snaps, or 37 percent, while WR Clyde Gates saw nine snaps, and CB Antonio Cromartie lined up as a wideout on three different snaps.

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt (knee) not only practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 9, but he expressed confidence after the session. "Today I felt the most confident I have in this whole year and this whole season to tell you the truth," Britt said. "With my eyes, finding the ball when (QB Matt Hasselbeck) was throwing it, especially coming over the big linemen. So I'm definitely getting back to where I was last year."

Tight End

TE | Brandon Pettigrew | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy

DL | Mario Williams | Buffalo Bills | Injury
Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix blasted his team's defense due to an overall lack of urgency so far this season. His blame was not placed solely at the feet of big-ticket addition DE Mario Williams (wrist). "Well, obviously, we're not pleased with it. There's really no excuse for losing the way we did," Nix said Tuesday, Oct. 9. "We're all to blame. Let's do better. Hell, let's get it going."
