Fantasy football sleepers: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Weeks 1 and 2, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Tight ends

NEW - Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions at Tennessee Titans

Fantasy value: High-end No. 1

  • You probably wouldn't sit Pettigrew anyway, but this is a declaration of just how good his matchup is. The Titans have been killed by the position, largely because of middle linebacker Colin McCarthy's absence as he recovers from an ankle injury.
  • Through two games, tight ends have averaged 23.5 standard fantasy points against this defense. The next closest team has given up 12.0 fantasy points per game in this time. The position has posted 9.50 receptions for 98.0 yards, on average, and a whopping five total scores versus the Titans.

Owen Daniels, Houston Texans at Denver Broncos

Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans
Highly targeted

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1

  • Daniels has the fourth most targets among tight ends through the first two weeks (17) and has caught 10 of them for 134 yards. With Houston's lack of reliable WR depth, Daniels has Matt Schaub's attention.
  • Denver is decent against the run but coverage woes in their secondary and with their linebackers. In the first two weeks, Heath Miller (4-50-1) and Tony Gonzalez (7-70-1) exposed them. The shifty Daniels should have little trouble continuing that pattern.

Dallas Clark, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys

Fantasy value: Flex or bench

  • Dallas' cornerbacks have aided the secondary's improvement, but up the middle, they can still be conquered. Former Cowboy Martellus Bennett (4-40-1) haunted them in Week 1, and little-known Anthony McCoy (5-41-1) tormented them Sunday.
  • The Bucs looked to Clark five times in Week 2 as they were involved in a shootout with the New York Giants. They should have a similar game pace this week. Clark isn't a reliable week-to-week option but could put together the useful game under the right conditions. As with Daniels, Clark can benefit, on the other hand, from a lack of reliable WR depth behind Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.
