Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquire

The following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow fantasy football leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs.

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates
Gates missed out

Brandon Myers, Oakland Raiders (99 percent)

With Oakland's running backs making almost no headway (29 carries, 61 yards combined) this season, quarterback Carson Palmer is putting the ball in the air early and often. Eleven of those 94 passes have gone toward Myers, and the Iowa product has caught every one of them for a team-high 150 yards.

Myers looks to be developing into Palmer's safety net over the middle. As such he holds immediate value in point-per-reception leagues.

Fantasy football free agents: One-week plays

The following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straits. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use.

NEW - Dallas Clark, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (76 percent)

The Cowboys haven't yielded that much yardage to the tight end position this season (47 yards per game), but they have given up touchdowns in both games, including one to unheralded Seahawks tight end Anthony McCoy. If your starter is out go ahead and try Dallas in Dallas.

Fantasy football free agents: Watch list

These fantasy football free agents shouldn't be on your immediate list. They may have had a big week. They may have talent but are buried on the depth chart and merely awaiting an opportunity. Still, fantasy football players must know who they are for their potential contribution in the future.

Dante Rosario, San Diego Chargers (100 percent)

Question: If a player scores three touchdowns in a game and isn't owned in a single fantasy league, does it make a sound? Answer: It does, and it sounds a lot like millions of Antonio Gates (ribs) owners simultaneously smacking their foreheads with an open palm. Gates' availability will determine Rosario's role moving forward.

As amazing a game as Rosario had, it's hard to advocate adding him unless you're desperate - and I'm not talking regular desperate here; I'm talking shouting match with Octomom on Celebrity Apprentice levels of desperation.
