"Everything we've given him to this point he's been able to handle," Pagano said. "He's one of those guys that's probably got a photographic memory or something like that. Because he just gets it. It's not like you've got to come back and repeat something and give it again and give it again."

QB | Matt Hasselbeck | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck threw two interceptions in practice Wednesday, Aug. 8, pushing his training camp total to nine through the first 10 practices. Interceptions may be a concern for Hasselbeck. Since the start of the 2009 season, he has thrown 48 in 44 games.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb (ribs) was able to practice Wednesday, Aug. 8, working in 11-on-11 drills. He is expected to play Friday, Aug. 10, in the team's preseason opener.

QB | Carson Palmer | Oakland Raiders | Fantasy
Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer is still struggling to master various parts of the West Coast offense. He has been inefficient with some of the movement-based passing concepts in the playbook. Palmer's struggles with bootlegs could be a significant problem, given their importance to the running game. Palmer has also had problems with his anticipation on timing routes. He has repeatedly delivered the football late to receivers coming out of their breaks.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said his relationship with offensive coordinator Todd Haley is good and they are moving forward with the offense. "We've worked hard in both the spring and here to really get a head start and really get going on this offense. Our relationship is good, and we're really coming along with the offense. We've made progress every day," Roethlisberger said.


Running Back

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson's (knee) knee surgery, which is considered minor, could have potential long-term effects. Richardson's knee soreness might not go away for another three to four weeks, which is close to the start of the regular season. The injury could potentially be a problem later in the season as well.

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray said he is even hungrier to prove himself this upcoming season after a strong rookie campaign in 2011. "I think we always have something to prove," Murray said. "You could be in your 10th season and you've got to show them you've still got it. If you're a young guy, you have to show you're for real. I'm still trying to get better. I have a long way to go. I am still trying to work hard and get the plays down, the blocking assignments down, but I am heading in the right direction ... The sky's the limit, and I'm excited to see how I do this year."

Each player has been participating in practice only on a limited basis.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) said Wednesday, Aug. 8, that he is experiencing numbness in his patellar tendon area where the nears are cut, which isn't unusual. Peterson wants to get hit to see how the knee responds. He remains on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, and won't play in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 10, against the San Francisco 49ers.

RB | Daryl Richardson | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Daryl Richardson (hamstring) participated in team drills for the first time in training camp Tuesday, Aug. 7, after dealing with a hamstring injury. "It looks like the injury is behind him, so we threw him in there. It's good to have him back," head coach Jeff Fisher said.

RB | Cyrus Gray | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RBs Shaun Draughn and Cyrus Gray received most of the work at running back Wednesday, Aug. 8, leaving little work for RBs Jamaal Charles (knee) and Peyton Hillis.

RB | Ryan Mathews | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
The San Diego Chargers want RB Ryan Mathews to become consistent and stay healthy in 2012. He will likely be given the chance to to carry the ball 25 times a game, catch several balls out of the backfield and be a factor on third down and in short yardage. Training camp has been designed to get him prepared for a heavy workload. "He's working hard," QB Philip Rivers said of Mathews. "Ryan knows what is expected of him."


Fullback

Wide Receiver

WR | Terrell Owens | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
The addition of WR Terrell Owens to the Seattle Seahawks could threaten WR Sidney Rice's (concussion, shoulder) playing time. Owens worked as the second-team flanker in practice Wednesday, Aug. 8, which is Rice's position. Putting Owens at flanker is a sign that the Seahawks don't necessarily trust Rice to be healthy.

WR | Percy Harvin | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin and FS Harrison Smith exchanged words in practice for the second straight day Wednesday, Aug. 8, and things got so heated that Harvin needed to be restrained. Harvin walked off the field with a media relations official and did not comment. "It's the game of football," Smith said. "It's not a passive sport. It's an aggressive sport played by aggressive people, so that stuff happens."

WR | Keshawn Martin | Houston Texans | Fantasy
Houston Texans WR Keshawn Martin has come on so strong that he's separating from the pack of other wide receivers battling for the No. 3 receiver job behind starters WRs Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter.

WR | Alshon Jeffery | Chicago Bears | Fantasy
Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has been receiving high praise during training camp. CB Charles Tillman said Jeffery is a "Brandon Marshall in the making," while offensive coordinator Mike Tice said Jeffery has really progressed. "We like to throw everything at them and see what they can handle and then go from there," Tice said. "We're happy with where he's at."

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt (knee) sent out a photo and message on Instagram bemoaning a $9,915 fine from the team over a missed mandatory training session Tuesday, Aug. 7. "Yu gotta be (expletive) kidding me. Walk back to dis. Don't dey know I have kids. I'm tired of dis (expletive)," Britt posted , along with a photo which showed the fine, the amount and the reason.

WR | Austin Pettis | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams WR Austin Pettis (undisclosed) appears to have the wind knocked out of him during practice, but he was able to return to drills a few minutes later.

WR | Brandon Gibson | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
St. Louis Rams WR Brandon Gibson (muscle) has missed practice time due to what head coach Jeff Fisher called "tightness."

WR | Plaxico Burress | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Pittsburgh Steelers have not expressed any interest in free-agent WR Plaxico Burress (Jets). The free agent has stated he is willing to take a one-year contract for the veteran minimum to play in 2012.

WR | Armon Binns | Cincinnati Bengals | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Armon Binns appears to be the early favorite to win the starting wide receiver job opposite WR A.J. Green. Binns doesn't run that well, but he is similar to former Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, in that he is a capable player who knows where to go in terms of assignments.

Oakland Raiders WR Juron Criner continues to build on the momentum created by his sensational play during offseason workouts into training camp. Criner has routinely come down with acrobatic catches in practice, and looks like he could be a No. 1 receiver in the near future. Criner could crack the starting lineup at some point this season.

New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (back, hip) landed awkwardly during practice Wednesday, Aug. 8, and suffered an apparent back or hip injury. The injury, however, does not appear to be serious as Graham did sign autographs and pose for fan pictures following practice.

TE | Antonio Gates | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates is turning heads on a daily basis in training camp. After dealing with foot-related injuries for four years, Gates is finally completely healthy and also slimmer.


Place Kicker

Oakland Raiders PK Sebastian Janikowski (illness) missed practice Wednesday, Aug. 7, due to illness, according to Raiders head coach Dennis Allen.


Offensive Tackle

San Diego Chargers OT Jared Gaither's (back) back ailment is healing slower than the team hoped, and he will miss the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 9. There is some doubt as to whether Gaither will be ready to play in the team's second preseason game Aug. 18.

OT | Mike X. Adams | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
Pittsburgh Steelers OT Mike X. Adams has moved ahead of OT Trai Essex on the depth chart, but it still remains to be seen whether he or OT Max Starks (knee) will begin the regular season as the starting left tackle.

OT | Jah Reid | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
Baltimore Ravens OT Jah Reid (calf) has made slow, gradual progress from a strained right calf injury suffered initially in a June minicamp practice. He had a painful setback before the launch of training camp. Reid has finally reached the point where he can jog without pain. When he is able to return, it appears the injury has caused him to be slotted into a backup role once he's healthy enough to practice.

The San Diego Chargers waived OT John Cullen Wednesday, Aug. 8. They also placed TE Patrick Doyle (undisclosed) on the waiver/injured list. If Doyle clears waivers, he will be placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve list.

OT | David Stewart | Tennessee Titans | Injury
Tennessee Titans OT David Stewart (knee) missed practice Wednesday, Aug. 8, after tweaking his knee over the weekend.


Guard

DL | Dontari Poe | Kansas City Chiefs | Depth Chart Tidbit
Kansas City Chiefs DL Dontari Poe acknowledged the difficulty of adjusting to the NFL game. "It's all different," Poe said Wednesday, Aug. 8. "The technique of it, there's nothing the same about the college level. The only thing the same is that it's football. As far as the speed level and the strength and all that, you've got to learn it all over again." Poe remains behind DL Anthony Toribio at the nose tackle position on the depth chart, and Poe enters the lineup on obvious passing downs when the Chiefs use their nickel defense.

DL | Robert Geathers | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury
Cincinnati Bengals DE Robert Geathers (knee) had arthroscopic knee surgery which will keep him sidelined a few more weeks. However, when he returns, Geathers is expected to be a big part of the team's defensive line rotation.

Cincinnati Bengals SS Taylor Mays was running with the first team this week at practice, but he really struggles in coverage and is too stiff. The team might move a cornerback to couple with FS Reggie Nelson. If so, CB Nate Clements might be that player. SS Jeromy Miles is a player the Bengals really like, and he might emerge as a starter with a strong training camp and preseason.


Free Safety
