Quarterback

QB | Joe Flacco | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco has had a sharp training camp. He is delivering decisive spirals and getting rid of the ball quicker than he has in the past. Progress appears to be made in accuracy, timing and his aggressiveness. A new contract for Flacco is not imminent at this time.

QB | Curtis Painter | Baltimore Ravens | Depth Chart Tidbit
Baltimore Ravens QB Curtis Painter is challenging QB Tyrod Taylor for the team's No. 2 quarterback duties during training camp. Taylor is a dual-threat option at quarterback, able to make plays with his legs, while Painter is more of a pocket passer. Painter has had bouts of erratic play and thrown plenty of interceptions. Thus far, Painter has not made a strong case for the team to carry three quarterbacks into the regular season.

QB | Matt Flynn | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Flynn will start in Saturday's preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Running Back

RB | Ryan Mathews | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
The San Diego Chargers want RB Ryan Mathews to become consistent and stay healthy in 2012. He will likely be given the chance to to carry the ball 25 times a game, catch several balls out of the backfield and be a factor on third down and in short yardage. Training camp has been designed to get him prepared for a heavy workload. "He's working hard," QB Philip Rivers said of Mathews. "Ryan knows what is expected of him."

RB | Bobby Rainey | Baltimore Ravens | Free Agents
Baltimore Ravens RBs Anthony Allen, Bernard Pierce and Damien Berry have not made nearly as much noise in training camp as RB Bobby Rainey, an undrafted free agent from Western Kentucky. However, Rainey is a clone of RB Ray Rice and the team might need a change-of-pace runner. As a result, the Ravens could add a free agent near the end of camp.

RB | Chris Johnson | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson said he is fine with the team's new pass-first philosophy on offense and believes it might even benefit him. "If they throw the ball well, it can help me because it will back some of those guys out of the box," Johnson said. "I feel like that's not a bad thing for me. I feel like it's a good thing."

RB | Mike Goodson | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson (neck) was released from the hospital Tuesday, Aug. 7, and he was able to return to the team hotel at training camp.

RB | Travis Henry | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said Tuesday, Aug. 7, that the team has had no discussions about reinstated free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos), who is interested in making a comeback.

RB | Toby Gerhart | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said Tuesday, Aug. 7, that the team will "be a little more cautious" with RB Toby Gerhart and his workload. It's mostly due to the availability and uncertainty of RB Adrian Peterson (knee), so they want to keep Gerhart as healthy as possible just in case.

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) remains on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, and while he has not been officially ruled out, he is unlikely to play in the team's preseason opener Friday, Aug. 10.

RB | Jordan Todman | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Jordan Todman (ankle) did not respond well to treatment Monday, Aug. 6, for his sprained left ankle, and head coach Leslie Frazier said Todman will miss the team's preseason opener Friday, Aug. 10.

RB | Joe McKnight | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Jets RB Joe McKnight is listed ahead of RB Bilal Powell on the team's initial preseason depth chart Tuesday, Aug. 7. McKnight is also listed as the team's top kickoff return man.

RB | Phillip Tanner | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB Phillip Tanner (hand) had surgery on his broken hand Tuesday, Aug. 7. The team is hopeful Tanner will not be sidelined more than two weeks.

RB | Evan Royster | Washington Redskins | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Evan Royster looked like the best back in the team's training camp last week, according to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. People from the organization have given Graziano the impression that they believe Royster has a higher ceiling than RB Roy Helu, if each is healthy. They also think highly of rookie RB Alfred Morris, who isn't out of the mix, in part because health is their chief concern regarding both Royster and Helu.

If Tim Hightower (knee) is healthy, he remains the starting running back.

Head coach Mike Shanahan likes to give his backs something close to a full workload in the preseason in order to evaluate them, which probably means that Royster will play the majority of the Redskins' preseason game on Thursday, Aug. 9. It might be difficult to assess Royster in the upcoming contest because FB Darrel Young (hamstring), OT Jammal Brown (hips) and OG Kory Lichtensteiger (knee) are out, and OG Chris Chester (ankle) may not play.

RB | Steven Jackson | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson worked really hard during the first half of practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, before the team backed him down during the second half. "He's been working really good," head coach Jeff Fisher said.

RB | Beanie Wells | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells (knee) has been removed from the team's physically unable to perform list and cleared to begin practicing with the team. Wells had one of his knees scoped after last season.

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson (knee) missed practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, with a sore left knee. He had the same knee scoped in February, and the injury may keep Richardson out of Friday's preseason game against Detroit. Richardson will be further evaluated after practice.

Green Bay Packers WR Tori Gurley (groin) missed most of last week's workouts due to a groin injury.

WR | Donald Driver | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Green Bay Packers WR Donald Driver has been having a strong camp, and he still appears capable of helping the team's high-powered offense. He has plenty of confidence, too. "I think a lot of people are surprised how I've played at 37 years old," Driver said. "But if you haven't lost it, you haven't lost it. And I haven't lost anything." Driver checked in at 194 pounds with body fat under four percent.

WR | Michael Crabtree | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (calf) said Tuesday, Aug. 7, he was running without pain, and he thinks he could be fine to play in the team's preseason opener Friday, Aug. 10. "Yeah, I should," Crabtree said. "I don't think the (starters) are going (to play) that much Friday. Whatever time they give me, I'll just go out there."

WR | Justin Blackmon | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
The Jacksonville Jaguars have put WR Justin Blackmon on a crash course, trying to get him up to speed after a 12-day holdout. He had his own practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, when the team conducted special teams drills. Blackmon won't get into full pads until Sunday, Aug. 12.

WR | Cole Beasley | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley is back in training camp, and he had another strong practice Tuesday, Aug. 7. He briefly left the team after informing head coach Jason Garrett that his "heart wasn't in it." However, he returned to camp Sunday, Aug. 5. "That's why we were open-minded to (him returning)," team executive vice president Stephen Jones said. "He obviously had a great minicamp and OTAs. It doesn't surprise us."

WR | Randy Moss | San Francisco 49ers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
On the San Francisco 49ers initial depth chart, opposite of WR Michael Crabtree the 49ers list WRs Randy Moss "or" Mario Manningham "or" Ted Ginn Jr. as their other starter.

WR | Danario Alexander | St. Louis Rams | Injury
St. Louis Rams WR Danario Alexander (hamstring) spent the first week of training camp sidelined with a hamstring injury. Alexander has had plenty of injury problems during his brief NFL career and the pulled hamstring threatens to send him to the waiver wire before the end of training camp. He was cleared to return to action Monday, Aug. 6, and spent most of the day running with second- and third-string units without seeing many passes go his direction. "He obviously has some talent. But we just have to keep him out there," head coach Jeff Fisher said. The Rams upgraded their receiver position during the offseason and competition at it is fierce during camp, so missing time is putting Alexander on the outside looking in. Fisher said Alexander hasn't fallen too far behind, but noted the key for Alexander is to stay on the field. Alexander said it felt good to be back on the field and he is going to try hard to stay healthy.

WR | Jacoby Jones | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones is the favorite to be the team's No. 3 receiver this season. He has shown during training camp that he can create separation from defenders and make big plays. However, he still has lapses in concentration and occasional dropped passes. Jones is also penciled in to be the team's top returner on punts and kickoffs.

WR | Anquan Boldin | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Anquan Boldin and QB Joe Flacco have shown better chemistry and timing with each other during training camp this year. Boldin had 57 receptions for 887 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season, which were some of his worst numbers since an injury-shortened 2004 campaign.

WR | Terrell Owens | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Terrell Owens, 38, is not a lock to make the final roster. He was brought in to compete for a spot in training camp after not seeing an NFL snap in 19 months. There is no guaranteed money in his contract.

PK | Justin Tucker | Baltimore Ravens | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens rookie PK Justin Tucker is pushing veteran PK Billy Cundiff during training camp for the team's kicker duties. Tucker has only missed three field goal attempts, hitting 55 of his 58 attempts since camp began. He even nailed a 62-yard attempt. Cundiff has made 51 of his 59 attempts and was just short on a 65-yard attempt. Barring a preseason collapse, Cundiff is expected to retain his job despite Tucker having a stronger leg and being less expensive.

OG | David Arkin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
Dallas Cowboys OLs David Arkin and Harland Gunn struggled with their snaps so much in practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, that head coach Jason Garrett had to insert C Phil Costa to work with the third team just so the unit could run plays. Still, executive vice president Stephen Jones downplayed any fears in the event Costa goes down with an injury. "Center? We feel like we are going to be fine there," Jones said. "Arkin, I've noticed days he's had a little problem with the snaps. At some point, we will put the ball in (OG Mackenzy) Bernadeau's hands. He's (played center) before. It's not totally foreign to him."

OG | Marshal Yanda | Baltimore Ravens | Injury
Baltimore Ravens OG Marshal Yanda (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, after being pulled out of practice Monday, Aug. 6, by head coach John Harbaugh.

DL | Christian Ballard | Minnesota Vikings | Injury

He's learning both but it's clear the Ravens want him to begin his pro career where his strengths are. "The first thing Coach (Harbaugh) told me coming in was that I would have to learn multiple positions," Upshaw said. "Right now I've just been playing the rush. Still, in meetings I'm learning Sam. He's still coaching me at the Sam position but I'm getting all my reps at the rush right now."

LB | Geno Hayes | Chicago Bears | Depth Chart Tidbit

The team likely does not want to risk further injury to Urlacher's knee by subjecting him to contact.

LB | Ray Lewis | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
