Quarterback

QB | Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints | Free Agents
New Orleans Saints franchise free-agent QB Drew Brees is optimistic he will sign a long-term deal by the July 16 deadline. "I'm an eternal optimist, so I'm still very confident a deal will get done by Monday," Brees said. "I think I've been around this league long enough to understand how this works at times. In a lot of cases, it does go down to the wire, and you need a stopping point in order to bring everyone together and make sure it can get done. That stopping point is Monday, so let's hope we get something done by then."

Running Back

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (ankle) reiterated Wednesday, July 11, in a chat that he is healthy and he does not expected to be limited in training camp. "The ankle is doing great," Murray said. "I'll be able to do whatever the coaches want me to do."

Wide Receiver

WR | Percy Harvin | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin has dropped his trade demand, and intends to report to minicamp and play the regular season. However, he has made it clear he expects a new deal after this season. He is due only $655,000 in base salary this season, plus a $27,500 workout bonus. The final year of his deal is loaded with escalators designed to grease the wheels on renegotiation - $375,000 of which Harvin unlocked as a rookie to push his base salary to $1,550,000 and another $2.825 million available.

WR | Josh Gordon | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft, Fantasy
The Miami Dolphins have inquired about, and shown some interest in, Baylor WR Josh Gordon. He is considered the top prospect in the supplemental draft Thursday, July 12.

WR | Legedu Naanee | Miami Dolphins | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Legedu Naanee looked good in the offseason program, and he has a good change to wind up as one of the team's top four receivers. However, he still needs a strong training camp and preseason, as he tries to hold off WRs Roberto Wallace and Marlon Moore, who are believed to be on the roster bubble.

WR | Chad Ochocinco | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Chad Ochocinco looked good in offseason workouts, making a few acrobatic catches. However, the key is how quickly he will be able to learn the offense after having just four and a half weeks to study, all the while getting married and having a reality television show at the same time. One longtime NFL general manager had good and bad words on Ochocinco. "His best asset is his ability to get separation on routes," the anonymous GM said. "But you want a disciplined receiver to be in the right spots, and that's not what this guy is. I would not have touched him. His personality issues are not going to change. I don't know if he's ever going to get it."

Tight End

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski won a celebrity home run derby Monday, July 9, in Buffalo, N.Y. as part of the Triple-A All-Star Game festivities.

Guard

OG | Artis Hicks | Miami Dolphins | Depth Chart Tidbit
Miami Dolphins OL Artis Hicks was originally signed to play tackle, but he ended summer workouts as the starter at right guard ahead of the disappointing OG John Jerry.

OG | Johnnie Troutman | San Diego Chargers | Injury
San Diego Chargers OG Johnnie Troutman (pectoral) will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list and likely will miss the entire training camp because of his torn pectoral muscle. The team could keep Troutman on the PUP list at start of the season, which would rule him out for the first six weeks of the season.

Defensive Line

DL | Jay Ratliff | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff (foot) is still rehabbing the torn plantar fascia he suffered during strength and conditioning program this offseason. He sat out all of the team drills during offseason workouts but does not think the foot injury will be a problem during the season.

Linebacker

LB | Gary Guyton | Miami Dolphins | Depth Chart Tidbit
Miami Dolphins LB Gary Guyton was effective as a blitzer during minicamp, but he has not yet seriously challenged LB Koa Misi for a starting job.

Cornerback

CB | Richard Marshall | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
Miami Dolphins CB Richard Marshall is not expected to start, barring an injury, but he is expected to see the field well over half the time. Head coach Joe Philbin likes what he sees from Marshall, especially his "competitiveness."

Strong Safety

SS | Tyrell Johnson | Miami Dolphins | Depth Chart Tidbit
Miami Dolphins SS Tyrell Johnson was viewed the most disappointing of the team's eight offseason acquisitions, as he ended the offseason program no better than fifth on the depth chart.
