QB | Tony Romo | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Retired NFL QB Brett Favre said Wednesday, June 27, that Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo closest resembles his style of play. "Romo is probably more like me than any of those guys," Favre said. "I think way too much is cast upon him, good or bad. It's Dallas, and much is expected. He's carried those guys. I watched him last year. And I like Tony. I like the way he plays. I think at times he's underrated."

Running Back

RB | Cedric Benson | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Oakland Raiders continue to show interest in free-agent RB Cedric Benson (Bengals); however a signing is not imminent. The Raiders have salary cap and money issues and still have two draft picks left to sign. So, the team may have to do some maneuvering to sign Benson, and that could take time.

RB | Matt Forte | Chicago Bears | Free Agents, Fantasy
Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher said he does not believe a holdout would hurt franchise free-agent RB Matt Forte's production once Forte returns to the field. "That's not going to be an issue for him. Whether he misses training camp or not he keeps himself in great shape, he's one of the (best) conditioned guys on our team," Urlacher said. "He takes care of his body. He'll (report) in great shape. Whenever he gets there, he'll be ready to play football."

Wide Receiver

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald was named the seventh best player in the National Football League for the 2012 season. The NFL Network's summer tour of the top 100 players is chosen by a vote of players. "Being a productive WR is no longer enough. I've grown into a position of leadership as a Cardinals team captain and have tried to expand my role as a mentor and example for our core of young players," Fitzgerald said.

WR | Malcom Floyd | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
San Diego Chargers WR Malcom Floyd is expected to enter training camp as the No. 1 receiver with WR Robert Meachem being the No. 2 receiver, but the designations likely will not matter since both will receive plenty of playing time.

Offensive Tackle

OT | James Carpenter | Seattle Seahawks | Injury
Seattle Seahawks OT James Carpenter (knee) will likely open training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Offensive Line

OL | Arron Sears | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent OL Arron Sears (Buccaneers) is suing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NFL over health problems that he attributes to concussions suffered on the field. Sears says his career ended because of neurological problems related to head trauma, and his lawsuit claims his parents now have to care for him because he can't care for himself. "Sears has almost total loss of function, is unable to care for himself and cannot take (care) of his day-to-day activities," the lawsuit says. "Further, Arron Sears has extreme displays of temper and anger with the appurtenant risk of causing harm to himself and others."

Defensive Line

DL | Cliff Avril | Detroit Lions | Free Agents
Detroit Lions franchise free-agent DL Cliff Avril said it is unfair to label the team as troublemakers despite an offseason marred by off-field trouble. "You can't label us by a few young guys getting in trouble," Avril said. "You can't put that on the other 53 guys on the roster. That makes no sense. Obviously they are part of the team, but I don't think it's correct to put that on the other 53 guys who are on the roster."

DL | Shaun Smith | Tennessee Titans | Depth Chart Tidbit
The Tennessee Titans have several defensive tackles vying for spots heading into training camp. DL Shaun Smith is worried about his roster spot since he is scheduled to make $2 million. The team also has DLs Jurrell Casey, Zach Clayton, Lamar Divens, DaJohn Harris, Karl Klug, Sen'Derrick Marks and Mike Martin in the mix. "With the guys we drafted and the guys we have here, I think there's a lot of competition," defensive coordinator Jerry Gray said. "The good thing is that if anyone rests, they know the guys behind them are really doing a great job."

DL | Josh Chapman | Indianapolis Colts | Injury
Indianapolis Colts DT Josh Chapman (knee) said his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament is on schedule at this point. Chapman said he has been building strength in his knee.

DL | Chris Canty | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants DT Chris Canty (knee) said he is on track to be ready for the start of training camp. He did not participate in any offseason workouts because he has been recovering from knee surgery.

DL | Phil Taylor | Cleveland Browns | Injury
Cleveland Browns DT Phil Taylor (pectoral) is expected to start this season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He would miss the first six games of the season and then would three weeks to begin practicing. Taylor said he has not started lifting weights yet but is doing range-of-motion drills. General manager Tom Heckert said Taylor could return by late October or early November but Taylor is not putting a timetable on his return.

LB | Markell Carter | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent LB Markell Carter (Patriots) is scheduled to work out for the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, June 28.

LB | Scott Fujita | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to rule any day on the three-game suspension appeal of Cleveland Browns LB Scott Fujita for his role in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal of 2009. Fujita has admitted to pledging money for big plays, such as interceptions, turnovers and sacks, but he denies he paid for injuries and would never be involved in such a program. However, it still appears remote that Fujita's penalty will be lessened, and he stands to lose $645,000 as a result of the suspension.

LB | Terrell Suggs | Baltimore Ravens | Injury
Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') was in Miami this week for the premiere of his first feature film, "The Coalition." While walking in, Suggs was spotted still sporting a walking boot for his Achilles' injury.

LB | Maurice Fountain | Free Agent | Injury, Free Agents
Free-agent DL Maurice Fountain (knee) (Eagles) went unclaimed off waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent. He was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles with an injury settlement June 22.

LB | Thomas Davis | Carolina Panthers | Injury
Carolina Panthers LB Thomas Davis (knee) said he is not worried about the role he will have on defense at this point and is only focused on being healthy for Week 1.

CB | Tommie Campbell | Tennessee Titans | Depth Chart Tidbit
Tennessee Titans CB Tommie Campbell showed tremendous speed and athleticism at times on special teams last season, and he had very good offseason workouts. "(Campbell is) doing a good job," defensive coordinator Jerry Gray said. "We know he can run. He's fast and long. The thing he doesn't have is a lot of playing time on the job. So this offseason's really good for him."

CB | Tramon Williams | Green Bay Packers | Injury
Green Bay Packers CB Tramon Williams (shoulder) could be limited during training camp because he is still having problems with his shoulder. Williams said the team did a strength test on his right shoulder and it showed the shoulder was at around 50 percent. Williams said tests on the shoulder showed a nerve was not working right and is only working at around 15 percent. He said he has not felt pain in the injured shoulder.

Strong Safety

SS | Eric Berry | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury
Kansas City Chiefs SS Eric Berry (knee) said he is 100 percent physically after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Free Safety

FS | Robert Johnson | Tennessee Titans | Injury
Tennessee Titans FS Robert Johnson (eye) said he is considering LASIK surgery. Johnson said his vision without contacts is 20/70 in his left eye and 20/50 in his right eye. "I'm trying to get more opinions on it," Johnson said. "Good vision is something that's important to have. You have to be able to see the quarterback and see the ball to make plays, you know?"

FS | Sam Proctor | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent FS Sam Proctor (Lions) went unclaimed off waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent. He was cut by the Detroit Lions June 25.
