Tampa Bay Rays RP Joel Peralta had a foreign substance on or in his glove Tuesday, June 19, according to umpires, and he was ejected from the game against the Washington Nationals. The foreign substance was later determined as pine tar, and Peralta said he did not know how it got on his glove, and that it did not give him an edge. Manager Davey Johnson said the reason they checked Peralta's glove because "a rumor (Peralta) liked a little pine tar." Peralta used to pitch for the Nationals.

RP Cole Kimball (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning in the Gulf Coast League Tuesday, the first time he's pitched since June 9 last year.
