Washington Nationals RP Brad Lidge will be available to pitch in a setup role after coming off the disabled list Thursday, June 7. RP Ryan Mattheus (foot) threw a successful simulated game Friday, June 8, and he could return to the bullpen soon, too. He will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Potomac Sunday, June 10.

RP | Nick Masset | Cincinnati Reds | Injury,
Cincinnati Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) has been throwing for two weeks and has been throwing from the windup. However, he's yet to get on a mound, and he'll need to throw to live hitters and go on a rehab assignment before returning. Masset is up to 60 to 70 throws from 150 feet in his throwing program.

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said the backend of his bullpen has become too predictable, and the team may mix in RP Chad Durbin to help break up the pattern. RPs Eric O'Flaherty and Jonny Venters have been the primary setup men for RP Craig Kimbrel. "Everybody in America knows our back end is lefty-lefty-righty," Gonzalez said. "You could see the way they use their bench through the course of the game they are anticipating that. There is a little gamesmanship in me that wants to go lefty-righty-lefty. You notice during the course of the game other managers using their left-handed pinch-hitters earlier because they know we are going with back-to-back lefties in the seventh and eighth."

Philadelphia Phillies Ps Michael Stutes (shoulder) and David Herndon (elbow) haven't thrown in extended spring training, and they'll be evaluated next week. RP Justin De Fratus (elbow) has started a throwing program.

Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said the team is looking for help for their battered bullpen. RP Chad Qualls has a 5.32 ERA and has given up 29 hits in 22 innings this year. The team has ruled out the possibility of turning a young starter in the system into a reliever for a short-term fix.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said RP Tyler Clippard will remain the closer until RP Drew Storen (elbow) comes back. RP Brad Lidge will serve as a setup man along with RP Sean Burnett.

New York Yankees RP David Aardsma (elbow) made 40 pitches in his third batting practice session Friday, June 8, and could move to a simulated game late next week.

RP | Joba Chamberlain | New York Yankees | Injury,
New York Yankees RP Joba Chamberlain (elbow, ankle) made 25 throws in the batting cage off a mound Friday, June 8, and said he felt fine. He has also started running sprints in the outfield. He expects to play at some point this year.

The New York Mets optioned RP Pedro Beato to the minors Friday, June 8, to make room on the roster for SP Chris Young.

RP | David Robertson | New York Yankees | Injury, Fantasy,
New York Yankees RP David Robertson (oblique), who will not move back into the closer role when he returns from the disabled list, said he's comfortable pitching as the eighth-inning setup man. "That's what I like, when we got a one-, two-, three-run lead, and the bases loaded, that's what I like," Robertson said. "I like the moment to be like that. That's when I like to pitch. I don't like to pitch when the game is, you know, one-sided."

RP | Joe Nathan | Texas Rangers | Fantasy,
Texas Rangers RP Joe Nathan, who has a 1.90 ERA, 12 saves, 28 strikeouts and just two walks this year, said he gained needed confidence in his breaking pitches last season. "Last year really gave me more confidence in my breaking pitches, and a lot more confidence in my changeup," Nathan said. "My fastball wasn't that good last year, so in the second half, I was getting guys out with a lot of breaking pitches." He threw his curve 19 percent of the time last year compared to 13 percent this year, but he hadn't thrown his curve more than 10 percent in any other seasons. Nathan hasn't blown a save in eight weeks, converting 10 in a row to go along with an 0.46 ERA during that time.

RP | Chen-Chang Lee | Cleveland Indians | Injury
Cleveland Indians P Chen-Chang Lee (elbow) is out for the season and will require Tommy John surgery.
