The San Diego Chargers selected South Carolina outside linebacker Melvin Ingram with the 18th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Analysis: Ingram might be the most impressive defensive player in this year's draft. His versatility is something that the Chargers could certainly use, especially since their defense has gone backward in the last couple of seasons. Ingram is a plus pass rusher but can drop into coverage almost as easily and is a fantastic athlete. San Diego still has the big men up front to create a push and has depth at outside 'backer, but they don't really have a playmaker of this caliber in their front seven. If Ingram is an every-down player for the Chargers, he should put up some diverse numbers in IDP leagues. Odds are, he'll give this unit a jolt as a DST, too, although it's TBD as to whether he's enough to make this D a weekly starter again. About Nicholas Minnix
