The Minnesota Vikings selected Southern California offensive tackle Matt Kalil with the fourth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Fantasy analysis: The Vikings needed to protect last year's first-round investment, quarterback Christian Ponder, and Kalil is the best blindside protector in the draft.
Charlie Johnson should now kick inside to play left guard, with Kalil starting from the onset of the season. This move bodes well for Ponder's pass protection and opening rushing lanes for Adrian Peterson (knee), once healthy. Kalil has the makings to be a 10-year stud in the NFL.
