Quarterback

QB | Andrew Luck | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he would be happy drafting either Stanford QB Andrew Luck or Baylor QB Robert Griffin III because he believes both would fit the team's offensive system.

QB | Blaine Gabbert | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said Tuesday, March 27, that he is confident in QB Blaine Gabbert, and his ability to grasp the playbook. "The things he's been doing, we'd like to see it more consistently the way we want to do it. There are flashes there when he has done that. The throws, the decisions and all of that, they are there," Mularkey said. "It absolutely is there on tape what he's capable of doing."

QB | Dennis Dixon | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Denver Broncos, who met with free-agent QB Dennis Dixon (Steelers) over the weekend, have yet to sign him to a contract as the team's backup quarterback.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has not asked QB Ben Roethlisberger to change his style of play after president Art Rooney suggested that Roethlisberger needs to "tweak" his playing style to avoid taking so many sacks. "Ben is Ben," Tomlin said. Tomlin does not want to take away from Roethlisberger's excellent improvisational skills and scrambling techniques.

Running Back

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday, March 28, that RB Adrian Peterson (knee) is beginning to run "on land" this week. Frazier said he is still cautiously optimistic that Peterson will be ready by Week 1 of next season. Peterson is "just beginning to run this week on land," Frazier said. "It's too early right now to say he's absolutely going to make the first game but so far he's on target with everything we've asked him to do."

RB | Trent Richardson | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said he believes Alabama RB Trent Richardson has the potential to be a workhorse back. Richardson is a possibility for the Buccaneers with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft. "He could be. He's done it in what is arguably the toughest league in college football," Schiano said.

RB | LeGarrette Blount | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano has told RB LeGarrette Blount that he must do a better job of protecting the ball, or he will not play. "I think LeGarrette has tons of ability," Schiano said. "No one who touches the football will get touches if they don't protect the football. That is one of our core covenants - the ball. It's so important they named the game after it. We make a big deal about it." Blount rushed for 781 yards and five touchdowns last season but fumbled five times and lost three of them.

RB | Brandon Jacobs | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy

Wide Receiver

WR | Justin Blackmon | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft

WR | Johnny Knox | Chicago Bears | Injury
Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said Wednesday, March 28, it's "a little early" to cast predictions on the potential return of WR Johnny Knox (back), who continues to rehabilitate from a serious back injury suffered in December. "It would be hard for me to go into that right there," Smith said. "Are you a religious man? Do you talk to God? He can probably tell you. Besides that, it's going to be pretty hard." Sources close to Knox maintain he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery. One source said Knox potentially starting the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list is "news to us," and added that the receiver is prepping to play in 2012.

WR | Jerome Simpson | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Cincinnati Bengals are open to re-signing WR Jerome Simpson even though he could face jail time and a suspension from the league for violating the substance abuse policy. Simpson is facing a possible four-game suspension from the league.

WR | Scotty McKnight | New York Jets | Transaction
The New York Jets re-signed WR Scotty McKnight to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, March 27.

WR | Wes Welker | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Wes Welker isn't in any kind of rush to sign his franchise tender this offseason, but there doesn't appear to be any case in which he would consider holding out for a new deal. Owner Robert Kraft has indicated that it would be his preference to work out a new contract rather than pay Welker $10 million in 2012.

Tight End

TE | Ladarius Green | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Louisiana-Lafayette TE Ladarius Green has worked out for the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints and is scheduled to work out for the Atlanta Falcons later this week. He is also scheduled to meet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Defensive Line

DL | Kelly Gregg | Free Agent | Free Agents
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said Tuesday, March 27, that the team might attempt to re-sign free-agent DL Kelly Gregg (Chiefs). "I'm not ruling Kelly out. I think he would like to come back and play. I think he likes the situation. He understands how we coach. He know what defense we're doing to run," Crennel said. "I think if he has the opportunity he would not be opposed to coming back."
