3B | Chone Figgins | Seattle Mariners | Fantasy
Seattle Mariners 3B Chone Figgins admitted that he wasn't aggressive enough in the No. 2 spot in the batting order, and he would be open to moving to leadoff in 2012, something that manager Eric Wedge is heavily considering. "It would be great to go back to leadoff and do that again," Figgins said. "If not, I have to change my mindset as a '2' hitter. I haven't really changed my mindset to be a '2' hitter. I've stuck with being a patient hitter." Figgins wants to be patient but also acknowledged that he must be more aggressive in certain situations.

He also declined to play winter ball for the second straight season.

OF | J.D. Martinez | Houston Astros | Fantasy
Houston Astros OF J.D. Martinez said he bulked up a little this offseason to counteract the fact that he typically loses weight throughout the season. He is expected to go into the 2012 season as the team's starting left fielder. Martinez was at 206 pounds last year, and he is now up to 228, which he expects will come down during the season.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Drew Pomeranz | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy
Colorado Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz has lost weight and impressed the staff with his conditioning. General manager Dan O'Dowd said he could look to limit Pomeranz and SP Alex White's innings later in the season by skipping starts. He also said the club could carry 13 pitchers at times to have enough arms if the young rotation falters.

SP | Jhoulys Chacin | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy
Colorado Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd is upset with SP Jhoulys Chacin's offseason conditioning. O'Dowd thinks Chacin needs to drop weight, because the added pounds affect the balance in his delivery and undermine his fastball command. Chacin spent much of the winter training in Venezuela rather than working out in Tucson. A person close to Chacin said the right-hander weighs 226 pounds - and expects to be close to the 218 he was last spring. "I would say he could have worked a little harder this winter. I am not really happy about that," O'Dowd said. "I don't think it will be an issue by the time we get to camp. But it has to get to a point where he has maturity and discipline and realizes that this is his career."

SP | Roy Oswalt | free agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The St. Louis Cardinals will likely keep SP Kyle McClellan for the time being now that it appears free-agent SP Roy Oswalt (Phillies) is not headed for the Cardinals.

SP | Juan Nicasio | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy,
Colorado Rockies SP Juan Nicasio (neck) won't be limited at all in spring training as he tries to win a spot in the rotation. He threw 15 pitches in an intrasquad game in the Dominican Republic recently, and his fastball was hitting 91-96 mph. He was even throwing all five of his pitches. "There are no issues mentally. It's not even something we are discussing anymore. He will enter camp and have a leg up based on what he did last year," general manager Dan O'Dowd said. "The only thing he can't do is distance running, but he can still jog and do more work on the treadmill."

SP | Josh Johnson | Miami Marlins | Injury, Fantasy,
Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) has arrived to spring training camp a bit early this year after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury. He will throw off a mound Friday, Feb. 10, and he is expected to start on opening day.

SP | Rich Harden | free agent | Injury, Free Agents,
Free-agent SP Rich Harden (shoulder) was advised by doctors initially to strengthen the area around his shoulder instead of having surgery, which is not uncommon for a capsule injury.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Rich Hill | Boston Red Sox | Injury,
Boston Red Sox RP Rich Hill (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday, Feb. 9, as he rehabs from Tommy John surgery. "Everything is going according to schedule," Hill said. "There's a long way to go still. Right now I'm throwing three-quarters sidearm. Prior to this I'd been throwing straight over the top. So we'll see as we progress what the team wants me to do." He's still a month away from being able to throw breaking balls, though. Hill could return to action sometime in June.

RP | Esmerling Vasquez | Minnesota Twins | Transaction,
