The agent for Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning (neck), Tom Condon, said Friday, Feb. 3, that he believes Manning will be healthy and ready to go for the 2012 season. "Peyton's not done," Condon said. Condon added Manning's medical clearance means it would be safe for him to play, and that he wouldn't be risking greater injury to his neck. However, Manning's nerve regeneration hasn't reached the point where he would be able to step on the field and play in an NFL game today.

Stanford QB Andrew Luck said he would love to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. "It sounds all right," Luck said. "Absolutely … You hear a lot of things, but, I think, like any competitive person, it would be great to be the No. 1 pick."

QB | Matt Cassel | Kansas City Chiefs | Free Agents
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli emphasized Thursday, Feb. 2, the need to bring in competition for QB Matt Cassel at starting quarterback. "What happens in free agency remains to be seen," Crennel said. "I know competition makes everybody better, and we'll just have to see what kind of competition we're going to have at the quarterback position." Pioli added the team could re-sign impending free-agent QB Kyle Orton.

New York Giants DL Jason Pierre-Paul said New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is worried about the Giants' pass rush, so much so that he felt pressure that didn't exist in the two teams' meeting earlier this year. "Yeah, he was. Yeah, he was reacting to pressure that didn't exist and he was just throwing the ball places that there wasn't a receiver there. So imagine us just getting there even faster and we're actually doing out jobs and getting there and getting hits on him," Pierre-Paul said.

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints impending free-agent QB Drew Brees said he fully expects to reach a new agreement with the team before the free agency period begins in March. "Contract talks are underway as we speak," Brees said. "I have all the confidence we're gonna get the deal done very soon."
