Tim Tebow just might be a real QB this week
December 1, 2011
|
Will Tim Tebow look like an actual quarterback this week and not just the rushing treat he has predominantly shown to be this season? I think so.
Tebow has averaged 19.0 standard fantasy points per game in the last month, which ranks him as the ninth best passer in this time. He has posted per-game numbers of eight completions on 17 attempts (44.8 percent), 110.0 passing yards, 1.00 aerial touchdowns, 13.0 rushing attempts, 74.0 ground yards and 0.50 touchdowns with his legs. Tebow has not turned over the ball in this time. The Minnesota Vikings, his Week 13 opponent, have given up the most fantasy points (26.7) per game to quarterbacks in the last month in standard scoring. They have allowed two touchdowns in their last three games on the ground, but Tebow should get a chance to exploit them through the air, as well. The Vikes have surrendered 238.0 passing yards and 2.67 touchdowns per contest; no quarterback has been intercepted by Minnesota in this time. Passers have completed a whopping 77.5 percent of their throws (23-for-30 per matchup). This secondary has lost their No. 1 cornerback and arguably their top safety in the last month. Furthermore, starting cornerback Asher Allen (shoulder) was limited today in practice, and he is a replacement for a replacement. Backup strong safety Tyrell Johnson was starting out of position at free safety, and he pulled a tore a hamstring tendon that will cost him the rest of the year. Sixth-round rookie Mistral Raymond will replace him. Cornerback Benny Sapp was on the streets two weeks ago and was clearly winded in Week 12. It should be a successful day through the air for Tebow, as long as Jared Allen doesn't rough up the former Florida standout too much. Fantasy owners should start Tebow with confidence in Week 13. He has such a good matchup it will be very surprising if he doesn't rate in the top five of fantasy passers this weekend. Check out these other blogs....
