Even if you do not need a player, you can tuck him away for depth or block others from adding him to their fantasy football team.

Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquire

The following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow fantasy football leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs.

Fred Davis, Washington Redskins (44 percent)

On your wire after the bye?

The 'Skins are coming off a bye, meaning Davis might be available in your league. Chris Cooley remains in the picture, but he's seemingly confined to more blocking and less exciting fantasy downfield potential. Davis earned at least six targets in three of the Redskins' first four games.

Check out Washington's upcoming schedule through the final bye week: Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys. Plenty of favorable matchups there.

Fantasy football free agents: Watch list

These fantasy football free agents shouldn't be on your immediate list. They may have had a big week. They may have talent but are buried on the depth chart and merely awaiting an opportunity. Still, fantasy football players must know who they are for their potential contribution in the future.

Lance Kendricks, St. Louis Rams (88 percent)

Just before the Rams' Week 5 bye, Kendricks slid under the radar with nine targets in Week 4. He snared four of them for 33 yards, (sadly) his best game of 2011. The rook gains a little more intrigue with the recent news that Danny Amendola (elbow) is out for the season. St. Louis will have Austin Pettis in the slot now, but the receiver corps doesn't have proven depth, and Kendricks could still see more midrange looks. Not something to commit to, yet not a bad backup plan for bye weeks.

Excluding the New Orleans Saints in Week 8, the Rams' passing game has a favorable fantasy slate through Week 12: Green Bay Packers (Week 7), Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals (Weeks 9 and 12), Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks.

Evan Moore, Cleveland Browns (94 percent)

We've had him before in this section. He has talent and knows Cleveland's West Coast system, but playing time has been the question. Pat Shurmur, maybe recognizing the third-year Moore's potential, claims he'll involve him more. Benjamin Watson is the lead TE, but his focus remains between the 20s, and numerous teams boast two fantasy-worthy options at this position in 2011. Just another friendly reminder for Moore as a backup plan with byes in full swing.

Fantasy football free agents: One-week plays

The following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use.

NEW - Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers (72 percent)

Mainly a blocker, Miller finds himself as a possible beneficiary from a favorable matchup and a possible long-term change in the passing game. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been burned by teams that involve their tight end frequently: 8.50 catches, 87.7 yards and one TD per contest since Week 1.

If Ben Roethlisberger sticks with the short-passing game they emphasized in Week 5 in fighting through a foot injury, Miller could show flashes of his useful 2009 campaign. Maybe Big Ben will lean on him a little more. Running out of options? Worth a shot.
