Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

If you are serious about winning your fantasy league football championship, stay on top of your fantasy football team throughout the year.

Each week during the NFL fantasy football season, KFFL brings you its Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, which breaks down players to pick up. Be aggressive when picking up fantasy football free agents. Even if you do not need a player, you can tuck him away for depth or block others from adding him to their fantasy football team.

Fantasy football free agents: Priority additions

The following players should be high on your radar and are worthy of being added immediately to your fantasy football team.

Jackie Battle, Kansas City Chiefs (96 percent)

Indianapolis Colts RB Delone Carter
Carter has an opportunity

Yes, he ran roughshod on the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, he is entering a bye week. Yes, you should make a spot for him on your fantasy roster heading into Week 6.

Battle, 6-foot-2, 238 pounds, gives KC fresh, powerful legs to ride. Thomas Jones isn't getting it done, and Dexter McCluster is a scatback, at best. Battle's slashing, bruising style allows him to pick up yardage in sizable chunks. He rushed 19 times for 119 yards (6.3 per carry) and added two grabs for 21 yards in Week 5.

Look for Battle to carry the load when the Chiefs resume following their bye week. They play the Oakland Raiders (Week 7), San Diego Chargers (Week 8), Miami Dolphins (Week 9) and Denver Broncos (Week 10). As long as KC is still in a game, they'll remain committed to running the ball.

Delone Carter, Indianapolis Colts (73 percent)

Joseph Addai (hamstring) pulled up lame in the second quarter and could miss some time if doctors determine the injury to be severe enough. He is oft-injured and never seemed to be a quick healer. Expect Donald Brown to be mixed in somewhat, too.

To be clear, this recommendation is not so much an endorsement of Carter's abilities or the Colts' rushing prowess but more of a reminder that he has value based on opportunity. Carter is not much of a receiver, but he'll have to be to considering how many plays in the Colts' book call on the back in the passing game. We do not expect him to have a lot of success, but if Indy is in the game, he should be a capable flex play. At the very least, roster him and take a wait-and-see approach.

The Colts face the Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons, respectively, in the next month.

Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquire

The following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow fantasy football leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs.

Kregg Lumpkin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (100 percent)

LeGarrette Blount (knee) suffered an undisclosed injury and isn't expected to play in Week 6. It is unknown how long he will be out. Lumpkin will serve in a committee approach with and Earnest Graham (69 percent availability) and may be their third-down back. PPR owners should look to Graham, but Lumpkin, who has shown flashes in the past in preseason play, may be the best bet for those in standard scoring. At 5-foot-11, 228 pounds, he is a bit of a slasher and runs well enough between the tackles.

Graham, as mentioned, is a PPR back. He, surprisingly, didn't catch a pass versus the San Francisco 49ers, but nothing the Bucs did on offense worked for them.

Tampa Bay plays the New Orleans Saints this week, the Chicago Bears in Week 7 and go on bye in Week 8. Presumably, Blount could return after the bye; stay tuned for reports on his prognosis.

Fantasy football free agents: One-week plays

The following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use.

NEW - Roy Helu Jr., Washington Redskins (51 percent)

You guessed it: Mike Shanahan didn't commit to a Week 6 tailback starter. With at least seven utilizations in each of the last three weeks, Helu still has tuckaway and bye-replacement value as a member of a Shanahell backfield. This week, employ him: The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed 5.3 yards per carry, 131.5 rushing yards, 5.75 receptions, 78.3 receiving yards and 1.5 offensive scores to opposing RBs per game in the last four weeks.
