What are the odds that you still own the relief pitchers you rostered in your fantasy baseball draft? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat series gives you no-nonsense ratings of performances, injuries and managerial decisions in MLB bullpens. Get your arm loose: Let's find fantasy baseball players in your rotisserie or head-to-head baseball league who'll get saves.

Mound meetings

  • Oakland Athletics RP Andrew Bailey
    Bailey OK for now
Metaphor for their season? Andrew Bailey (head) was hit by a liner in batting practice before Monday's game. He was held out of action. Though he might need to undergo more testing, an initial exam showed no concussion signs.
The Oakland Athletics hope he'll be ready for Tuesday. If he has to miss more time, Brian Fuentes and Grant Balfour would probably split closing duties.
  • Early Tampa Bay Rays advantage sans Kyle Farnsworth (elbow tenderness): Joel Peralta, who wrapped up their Monday victory with a perfect three-K inning. He's the front-runner for as long as Farnsie remains parked on the pine, though Jake McGee or Matt Moore could be mixed in.
  • Brian Wilson (elbow inflammation) threw 19 pitches off a mound to batters before Monday's San Francisco Giants contest. He'll likely rest for two days before starting his next rehab step. He's aiming to pitch before the season ends, but that's up in the air.
Until then, a committee that will include dashes of Santiago Casilla, Ramon Ramirez, Sergio Romo, Javier Lopez ... yeah, good luck if you're trying to milk anything from here.
  • The assumed is now official. Jonathan Broxton (elbow) won't pitch again this season. Plus, the impending free agent might not pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers again, thanks to Javy Guerra's breakout.
Brox might still have something left to justify a closer tryout somewhere else, but he'll have to prove he's at pre-2010 form. Watch him, but any chance at 2012 value will depend on his new situation and his offseason rehab progress.

You know Affeldt is done for the season, right? He cut his hand with a knife while trying to pry frozen hamburger patties apart. No joke!

Thanks for the good catch, AJ. He's *cut* from the article. ... Too soon?
