Quarterback

QB | David Garrard | Free Agent | Free Agents
The agent for free-agent QB David Garrard (Jaguars), Albert Irby, said his client wants to sign with a team that he can help lead to a championship, not simply be a short-term fix. "We're not interested in being a temporary fix," Irby said. "Dave wants to go somewhere where eventually he can help the team win a championship. Although there are some temporary jobs out there, it's not that we're saying absolutely no. We would rather just go to one more organization and call it a day." Irby said five teams called in the 24 hours after Garrard's release and he's fielded a few more calls since then.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (finger) said his injury is to a finger and not his thumb. "I just looked at it and tried to move it and I just couldn't really move it. I tried to throw a couple of balls and I couldn't get much pressure on it. But I took X-rays and they were negative, so that's a positive thing. I'm looking forward to treating it and getting back," Bradford said following the team's Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

QB | Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury
Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (wrist) underwent scans on his injured wrist but they came back negative. Dalton is considered probable for Week 2.

Running Back

RB | LeGarrette Blount | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said the reason RB LeGarrette Blount had just five carries for 15 yards in the team's Week 1 game was because the team went to the two-minute offense often during the game. Morris added Blount must improve in a faster-paced offense like the two-minute offense. "When we get to our two-minute offense - our faster-pace offense - that kind of took him out of the game a little bit," Morris said. "It's an area he has got to improve in, obviously, with the pass protection and all those aspects of it. He kind of got himself out of the game that started fast, and that hurt him and his ability to touch the ball, his ability to be effective on Detroit."

RB | Tim Hightower | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Tim Hightower was used as the workhorse running back during Week 1, carrying the ball 25 of the team's 26 running plays.

He averaged just 2.9 yards per carry, which was a big drop from the 6.8 he averaged during the preseason. Hightower said it wasn't because he was overworked and he hopes to continue seeing that amount of work moving forward. After rushing 12 times for 45 yards in the first half, he managed just 27 yards rushing on 13 carries during the second half.

"I hate coming off the football field ... I like that responsibility and putting my team on my back," Hightower said.

He said next week will be a "record-setting day" when he goes against his former team, the Arizona Cardinals.

RB | Derrick Ward | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy

RB | Deji Karim | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy

I'm just going to have fun and enjoy my teammates and they can enjoy me. It's a blast. I'm going to do like (LB Jon Beason) and put it all out there and if I blow a tire, that's the standard that's been set and that's the standard that I think we all should follow. I'm all in with him," Smith said. He noted there are going to be times he is the focal point of the offense and other times when he is a decoy to open opportunities for other players. "Other guys were getting involved and that was fun for me," Smith said. He believes the offense has plenty to build off of from their Week 1 game and they shouldn't be hanging their heads.
