Toronto Blue Jays 2B Aaron Hill spent extra time in the batting cage last week with hitting coach Dwayne Murphy and decided to change his batting stance. He is holding his hands lower and positioning them further away from his head. "You could see the position in his hands be ... not as buried (and) tight to his right ear," manager John Farrell said. "The fact that they are away from his head a little bit more allows that path to be opened and not to be so tight across his shoulders." In his first game with the new stance, Hill went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, tying a career high.

Updating a previous report, the Washington Nationals placed OF Bryce Harper (hamstring) on the minor league 7-day disabled list Friday, Aug. 19. He met with a doctor in Harrisburg who confirmed the diagnosis of strained right hamstring. He is likely to be held out for the remainder of the minor league season with just 17 days remaining.


Starting Pitcher

The Colorado Rockies will activate SP Alex White (finger) from the 15-day disabled list to start Tuesday, Aug. 23, against the Houston Astros.

SP | Phil Hughes | New York Yankees | Fantasy
New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (4-4) allowed one run on two hits over 7 2/3 innings in a victory over the Minnesota Twins Friday, Aug. 19, with three walks and two strikeouts. He improved to 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA over his last four starts, which he credits to increased confidence in his changeup and curveball.

Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said RPs Jose Veras and Joel Hanrahan will not be available for either game of the doubleheader Monday, Aug. 22. Hurdle would not say who the closer would be if the team faced that situation.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Frank Francisco (shoulder) warmed up Sunday, Aug. 21, against the Oakland Athletics, but he was scratched due to soreness in his right shoulder.

RP | Brian Wilson | San Francisco Giants | Fantasy
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy could use RP Jeremy Affeldt in the closer's role while RP Brian Wilson (elbow) is on the disabled list, because of his ability to handle both left-handed and right-handed batters. However, Bochy will not hesitate to use him prior to the ninth inning if there is a favorable matchup or a series of hitters he wants him to face earlier in the game. Bochy added that Affeldt could be used for two-inning saves or even longer relief appearances.

RP | Bobby Parnell | New York Mets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Mets manager Terry Collins said RP Bobby Parnell will serve as the closer Sunday, Aug. 21, and could fill the same role Monday, Aug. 22, although it is not necessarily his job to keep. Parnell and RP Jason Isringhausen are still expected to share the closer's role.
