What are the odds that you still own the relief pitchers you rostered in your fantasy baseball draft? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat series gives you no-nonsense ratings of performances, injuries and managerial decisions in MLB bullpens. Get your arm loose: Let's find fantasy baseball players in your rotisserie or head-to-head baseball league who'll get saves.

Mound meetings

  • Chicago White Sox RP Sergio Santos
    Not so fast, Santos
Huston Street wasn't available Tuesday due to soreness beneath his right arm. Since Matt Lindstrom (arm soreness) wasn't, either, the Colorado Rockies went with Rafael Betancourt in the ninth inning; he tossed a scoreless frame for his first closure of the season.
Lindstrom is expected to hit the disabled list soon. Street's timetable appears to be just day-to-day for now, but given his history of injuries, don't get too comfortable. In the event he also has to miss more time, it'll probably be Betancourt with possibly Rex Brothers mixed in for Rox save chances. Go with Betancourt first.
  • Well, matchups once again came into play Wednesday for Sergio Santos, who faced just one batter Tuesday to register the save. Southpaw Chris Sale retired the last two eighth-inning bats and the first two ninth-inning hitters before Santos' cameo against the righty- and light-hitting Robert Andino.
Chicago White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen's continued mixing and matching could cost Santos closures in the long run, but he's still the first choice to record the punctuations, which is what matters if you own him and are clinging to every possible save.
  • With his Tuesday closure, Jason Isringhausen registered a scoreless inning for the second straight day; he earned the win Monday. He has bounced back after a five-day rest since Aug. 2, following a rough two-game stretch. We may see Bobby Parnell get a fireman opportunity Wednesday if necessary, given Izzy's workload.
  • Jonathan Broxton - remember him? - threw on Monday and Tuesday, but the Los Angeles Dodgers righty's elbow probably won't be ready for an in-game test until after the minor league seasons end. Don Mattingly still considers Broxton's activation from the DL a "bonus" for 2011.
Brox is a free agent after this season and would need to come back on a cheap deal to return to LA. Javy Guerra is The Man for the rest of the year and has to be considered the favorite for the 2012 job.
