QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings rookie QB Christian Ponder believes he will be able to quickly sign his contract with the Vikings because of the anticipated rookie salary scale. "It will be done quickly and I want to be ready to go and get in as soon as possible," Ponder said. He recently relocated to Minnesota and has been taking part in player-led workouts organized by Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. High heat and humidity Monday, July 18, had Ponder saying the workout kicked his butt.

The San Diego Chargers will likely try to re-sign unrestricted free-agent QB Billy Volek and DE Jacques Cesaire when the NFL lockout is over.


Running Back

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart said he will have a better feel for the team's new offensive scheme when the players are able to put the pads on and get rolling in training camp. Stewart worked out during the offseason in Miami, Charlotte and Washington. He was able to attend the player-led offseason activities and noted he was able to get his playbook. He felt the player-led workouts were productive.

Arizona Cardinals RB Jason Wright, 28, has retired from the NFL. He was scheduled to become a free agent and his agent, Mike McCartney, believes Wright would have had options on the open market. He spent seven seasons in the NFL.

RB | Ahmad Bradshaw | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
New York Giants unrestricted free-agent RB Ahmad Bradshaw wants to remain with the Giants in 2011. "I love New York more than anything, and I'd love to be here," Bradshaw said. During an interview on ESPN 1050, Bradshaw added he is hopeful he is a member of the Giants next season, but he understands the NFL is a business and he may have to move onto another team. "If the Dolphins are interested, I gotta look at my options," Bradshaw said. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said over the weekend that Bradshaw is open to joining Miami, where he has been training this offseason. The Giants have said Bradshaw is a priority for them to re-sign, but economics may play a factor.

Among the final issues needing resolution before reaching a collective bargaining agreement between NFL players and owners will be striking a compromise with the 10 named plaintiffs in the Brady v. the NFL lawsuit. The agent for San Diego Chargers franchised WR Vincent Jackson has requested that his player either becomes an unrestricted free agent when the lockout is over or that he receives $10 million as part of the settlement. Jackson chose to sit out much of the 2010 season when he failed to reach a long-term deal with Chargers.
