St. Louis Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan acknowledged that RP Ryan Franklin probably doesn't have the stuff to be a closer again, but he thinks he can still serve a meaningful role in the team's bullpen.

St. Louis Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan said RP Mitchell Boggs had lost his confidence in his slider before being demoted and was relying too much on his fastball. Boggs was sent down to work on his slider and changeup. The team thinks he will be back up with the team again this season and will be important in the bullpen.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Karstens' next start has been pushed back to Sunday, May 29, due to the team's off days this week.

Los Angeles Dodgers RP Hong-Chih Kuo (anxiety) is regaining his control while pitching at the team's spring training facilities in Arizona. "He has been throwing a lot," general manager Ned Colletti said. "He is at about 90 percent intensity and having no problems with his command. We'll see where we go from here."

Kuo will eventually move to facing hitters in Arizona, but there is no date for that to take place, nor is there a target date for a rehab assignment in the minors.
