What are the odds that you still own the relief pitchers you rostered in your fantasy baseball draft? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat series gives you no-nonsense ratings of performances, injuries and managerial decisions in MLB bullpens. Get your arm loose: Let's find fantasy baseball players in your rotisserie or head-to-head baseball league who'll get saves.

Mound meetings

  • The training wheels are off Hong-Chih Kuo, whom the Los Angeles Dodgers say will be treated like any reliever, including pitching on back-to-back days. He did so over this past weekend. This bodes well for him eventually seeing frequent save opportunities. Vicente Padilla is the head guy in this setup (maybe he will be when Jonathan Broxton (elbow) returns), but Kuo has a legit shot at netting double-digit saves down the road. Speculate with this in mind if Kuo is available.
  • Though he named Mark Melancon as the first option last week, Houston Astros skipper Bradley Mills is hesitant to name Melancon or anyone else lead closer in the absence of Brandon Lyon (shoulder). Mills said it'll be based on matchups and availability. Don't ignore Mills' willingness to divvy chances, but don't belittle the fact that Melancon is a much better bet for consistent saves than Wilton Lopez and Jeff Fulchino.
