What are the odds that you still own the relief pitchers you rostered in your fantasy baseball draft? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat series gives you no-nonsense ratings of performances, injuries and managerial decisions in MLB bullpens. Get your arm loose: Let's find fantasy baseball players in your rotisserie or head-to-head baseball league who'll get saves.

Mound meetings

  • Chris Sale entered the ninth with a six-run advantage Monday and retired the first two opponents, but the Chicago White Sox lefty then hit a batter, surrendered a dinger, allowed a single and walked the next hitter.
Sergio Santos came in and whiffed the final batter. Even in brief save appearances like this, Santos' effectiveness and the rest of the bullpen's sloppy performances continue to bolster his closing case. Is he still available in your league?
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers' Jonathan Broxton needed just eight pitches (seven for strikes, all fastballs) in a clean save Monday. It's good that he's embracing heat again, but he has ignored his slider recently.
On Friday, though, one scout was horrified by the husky closer's delivery: "It's like trying to steer a bulldozer with a string." Broxton continues to labor thanks to his sloppy conditioning, and he's landing awkwardly on his follow-through, thereby diminishing fastball movement. While cleaner mechanics could maximize his velocity's returns, the physique will be hard to improve during the season. It'll continue to be a rough roto ride.
