Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars QB David Garrard (finger) said Monday, April 4, that he has regained 85 percent flexibility in his right middle finger, reports Tania Ganguli, of The Florida Times-Union. Garrard had surgery to repair a tendon disruption and ligament rupture in December. Garrard also said he is able to throw "just fine."

Auburn QB Cam Newton's agent, Bus Cook, said the Carolina Panthers will have Newton in for a visit this week, reports Jim Corbett, of USAToday.com. Newton will be in Carolina Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6. Warren Moon, who is serving as an advisor to Newton, believes the Panthers are sold on Newton as the No. 1 overall selection in the NFL Draft. Moon said Panthers head coach Ron Rivera noted he had seen Newton work out and was already convinced on his physical ability. Moon added Rivera felt he needed to talk with Newton more to understand him as a person. "The Panthers had a great meeting with him over dinner that night," Moon said.
