"Every guideline that the doctor has given us we've been able to reach it," Gonzalez said. "The motion, the mobility, all of the things that are incorporated in the healing process have been feeling great. There's still just a tiny bit of stiffness, which is expected, but the strength is there."

1B | Carlos Delgado | free agent | Injury, Free Agents
Free-agent 1B Carlos Delgado (hip) has been swinging a bat and participating in a running program as he attempts to return to baseball, according to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez. "The rehab is coming along, and I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing," Delgado said. "I would say within the next couple of weeks I will have a better idea of when I'm going to be ready because we are going to start sprinting a little bit and I'm going to take batting practice a little bit more often. Right now, it's every other day or every two days just because you just go gradually into it."

3B | Casey Blake | Los Angeles Dodgers | Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he is uncertain how the lineup will shake out, according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick. 3B Casey Blake is a candidate to hit second behind SS Rafael Furcal, but nothing is set in stone. Anticipated platoons at catcher and in left field also make Mattingly's decision harder. "And in a perfect world, you'd like to leave Andre and Matt in a stable position (third and fourth) and not mess with them in the order. But you want protection for Matt. It could be Juan Uribe, it could be James Loney. Uribe has done about everything. He's led off, he's hit second, he's the kind of hitter you can tinker with. Blake is an interesting guy in the two-hole. He hits the other way, he can take a pitch and with Raffy in there, he gives us a lefty-righty at the top against right-handers. Jamey Carroll, when he plays, can hit in either spot. If (Tony) Gwynn is in the lineup, he could be up there," Mattingly said.

3B | Michael Young | Texas Rangers | Fantasy
Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the team is not looking at trading for Texas Rangers 3B Michael Young, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck. The Tigers are happy with their current candidates to play second base. The Tigers are also on Young's no-trade list.

"It was just the position he was in to get started - and that wasn't that bad, either," Gross said. "It was just the timing of when he got to the place where he was ready to swing. Then (his hands) would drop even more and he'd be late."

OF | Jason Bourgeois | Houston Astros | Transaction
The Houston Astros signed OF Jason Bourgeois and P Aneury Rodriguez to one-year deals worth $423,000 and $414,000 in the major leagues, respectively, the Houston Chronicle's Zachary Levine reports. Bourgeois played some second base in winter ball as well.

OF | J.D. Drew | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Updating previous reports, Boston Red Sox OF J.D. Drew (hamstring) said the problem area resides just above his left hamstring and below his gluteus muscle, an area that hasn't been able to receive enough blood flow to promote the healing process, WEEI.com's Rob Bradford reports. He sought out PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy in December, a measure which thins out the existing blood and replaces it with blood which will better promote the healing process. SP | Johan Santana | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy

SP | Jake Peavy | Chicago White Sox | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (lat) said he still needs to build up more arm strength before the start of the season, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. "It's taking longer than I would expect to get my arm strength back, but I don't think anybody's arm strength is there at this point," said Peavy, who had to find his arm slot again while working in November and December, instead of just easing back into throwing. "I hope Spring Training builds that up. Past that, I don't have any hesitation." Peavy plans to spend more time stretching and getting loose this year to avoid another injury.

SP | Ubaldo Jimenez | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy
Colorado Rockies SP Ubaldo Jimenez has been working on refining his mechanics this offseason, InsideTheRockies.com's Jack Etkin reports. Jimenez went 15-1 with a 2.20 ERA before the All-Star break but just 4-7 with a 3.80 ERA in the second half. His walks per nine innings rose from 3.3 before the break to 4.4 afterward, and his hits per nine innings went from 6.2 to 7.3. Jimenez said he tried to do more than he was capable of doing in the second half. If he gave up a leadoff walk, he tried too hard not to allow them to score. Pitching coach Bob Apodaca said Jimenez would try to throw pitches nastier and tried to be too perfect. The results show up in Jimenez's mechanics and, hence, location. As he hurried his body faster, Apodaca said Jimenez would rotate more in his delivery and fall off the mound with greater frequency.

SP | Casey Crosby | Detroit Tigers | Injury
Detroit Tigers SP Casey Crosby (elbow) is ready to resume a promising career after he missed most of last season due to swelling in his left elbow, The Detroit News' Lynn Henning reports. Crosby has cleaned up his delivery, which is thought to be the cause of his elbow injury that led to 2007 Tommy John surgery. "His repertoire hasn't changed," Jon Matlack, a roving minor league instructor for the Tigers, said. "His velocity has been up to 97 since Day 1. That's not going away. His breaking ball is better, and his changeup, which was probably non-existent when he first arrived, has become a third pitch."

SP | Phil Hughes | New York Yankees | Fantasy
New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes attributed his second-half struggles to fatigue and shying away from using his changeup, the New York Post's Brian Costello reports. After going 11-2 with a 3.65 ERA in the first half of 2010, Hughes went 7-6 with a 4.90 ERA in the second half. Hughes said he got away from throwing his changeup when he was having success early in the year, and then couldn't find the pitch when he needed it later in the season.

SP | Homer Bailey | Cincinnati Reds | Fantasy
Cincinnati Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Monday, Feb. 7, that the pitcher who ends up sixth in the rotation spot battle might end up in the bullpen, reports John Fay, of The Cincinnati Enquirer. SPs Homer Bailey, Mike Leake and Travis Wood are competing for the fourth and fifth spot, with the odd-man out either going to Triple-A or the bullpen. "One of them could definitely end up in the bullpen," Jocketty said. "We're going to need someone down there to give us some innings. They are all capable of doing that."

SP | Jaime Garcia | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia has reported to training camp looking stronger than he did last season, reports Joe Strauss, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Cardinals shut down Garcia last season after pitching 163 innings as a rookie.

RP | Jonathan Broxton | Los Angeles Dodgers | Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly showed confidence that RP Jonathan Broxton will bounce back in 2011, according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick. "For me, that was a blip on the radar," Mattingly said of Broxton's late collapse. "He's been solid his whole career until he had a bad second half. He also was an All-Star. But in the second half, it became a snowball and he wasn't able to stop it. But that goes for a lot of guys on the team in the second half, they weren't able to stop it either.
