In the future, he said he needs to work "70 percent lower body, 20 percent upper body and 10 percent shoulder. Up until now, it's been 50/50." Matsuzaka said his body never felt in synch at any point last year because it always felt like his upper body was getting ahead of his lower body.

Cashman said he would've signed SP Cliff Lee and forfeited the pick, but once they weren't able to sign Lee, he called Yankees vice president for amateur scouting Damon Oppenheimer and told him they were keeping the pick. That means the team isn't looking to sign Type A free agent RP Rafael Soriano (Rays).
