Lord Zola's Fantasy Baseball Mailbag

by Todd Zola, MastersBall.com on December 20, 2010 @ 10:45:00 PDT

Hi gang. Welcome to the inaugural edition of Lord Zola's Mailbag. My name is Todd Zola and I will be your host each Monday, answering all things fantasy baseball. By means of introduction, I am a managing partner at www.Mastersball.com, your home for smart and original fantasy baseball analysis. I play in all the industry showcase leagues, including Tout Wars, LABR and the XFL. I have also won multiple league titles in the National Fantasy Baseball Championship. It is my pleasure and privilege to now be associated with KFFL, a company I have long followed and respect.

When we were discussing what type of column I wanted to write for the KFFL audience, the answer was easy, a mailbag. The information is for you therefore you should be able to get answers to questions of greatest interest and not what I happen to want to write about. So, now you have your chance. Shoot me an e-mail to lordzola@kffl.com and check back the next Monday. I will send myself a question right now to show you how it works.

Hi Todd, long time reader, first time e-mailer here. I am a huge fan of your writing. What kind of stuff can we ask you about? - Todd Zola, Framingham, MA

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez
Lord Zola's warrior: Car-Go

Great question Todd and thanks. Please feel free to ask anything you want. It can be player analysis, strategy or league administration. You can run a trade or free agent pick-up by me. Just keep in mind the question should not be too specific to your personal league, as I will need to answer it in a manner others will also find compelling. We will mix it up a bit, choosing a few different topics each week. If you include your name, I will be happy to include that with the question.

That was fun, I think I will send myself another one.

Hi Todd, long time reader, second time e-mail here. I'm curious, how did a nice Jewish boy like you get the nickname "Lord"? - Todd Zola, Framingham, MA

Believe it or not, that was bestowed to me by none other than ESPN's Matthew Berry, who was the auctioneer for an XFL draft several years ago. For whatever reason, Matthew started using the moniker whenever I won a bid and it stuck. He joked that he liked the way it sounded, and the next thing you know, I had a new nickname.

I haven't had this much fun on the Internet since I first Googled myself. Don't worry, I bought myself dinner first. Hey gang, it looks like I have another question.

Todd, I know you said you were Jewish, but I am really desperate and could use your help if you are free on the 25th. You see, we just had a last minute cancellation and only have 11 lords leaping and we need a 12th. Is there any way you can help a gentile out? - Kris Kringle, The North Pole

Hi Kris. While I am flattered by your offer, I must respectfully decline as the only leaping I do nowadays is over the salad bar on my way to the all-you-can-eat buffet.

OK gang, I think you get the idea. Send a question to lordzola@kffl.com, include your name and check back the following Monday to see if I answered your question. Ask anything you want so long as it pertains to fantasy baseball. We'll knock off five or so every week.
