Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Place kickers

Miami Dolphins PK Dan Carpenter
Carpenter's offense wobbly

Dan Carpenter, Miami Dolphins vs. Chicago Bears

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 1

  • Only two kickers have averaged more fantasy points per game in the past month than Carpenter. In his past four games, the fantasy darling of late has connected on 3.50 of his 3.75 field goal attempts and has been perfect on his 1.25 extra point tries per game.
  • Quarterback Tyler Thigpen will be making his first start since 2008 and could struggle leading the team on a short week of preparation.
  • The Bears have yielded just 1.00 field goal and 1.33 extra points per game in the past month. Kickers have attempted a matching 1.67 treys and one-pointers per outing.

Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

Fantasy value: Bench

  • Crosby is coming off his bye and was picking up steam before taking the week off. From Week 7 to Week 9, he averaged 2.00 field goal attempts (1.33 made) and 3.33 extra point kicks (3.33 made) per game.
  • The Vikings haven't found much success in the win column, but kickers have been worked over against this team. Minnesota has allowed only 1.00 three-point attempt (0.75 made) and 3.50 single-point kicks (3.50 made) per outing in the past four games.
