Fantasy football busts: Place kickers

David Akers, Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 1

    David Akers, PK, Philadelphia Eagles
Akers in for a down week
  • The Eagles' high-powered offense has given Akers plenty of work lately. He has averaged 4.00 field goal attempts (most in the league) and 2.33 extra point tries per game in his last three. The veteran kicker connected on 75.0 percent of his per-game three-point tries and all of his XPAs in this time.
  • The Redskins have limited place kickers to averages of 2.33 extra point tries (2.33 made) and 1.67 field goal attempts (1.00 made) per game. This equates to only 5.3 real kicking points per matchup.
  • In his last tiff with the 'Skins, Akers connected on both of his field goal tries and didn't attempt an extra point.

Neil Rackers, Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy value: Bench

  • Rackers has split the uprights on all of this 1.33 per-game field goal attempts and each of his 3.00 extra point kicks per game. He has averaged 7.0 actual kicking points per game.
  • Jacksonville has granted enemy kickers 3.67 extra point attempts and 1.33 field goal tries per game. Booters have been perfect on all of their attempts. The extra points allowed rank as the third most in the league, but Jacksonville has given up the seventh fewest (tie) field goal attempts per game.
