In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 4 to Week 7, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football sleepers: Place kickers

Connor Barth, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Barth has just two unsuccessful field goal attempts on the year - both came in Week 6 - and has three games with two-plus attempts at three points. He nailed all four of his tries in last week's contest.
  • Against the Cards, Barth should see a few more opportunities to net treys. The Cards are frequently scored upon, whether through the 3.67 field goal tries or the 2.67 extra point attempts they've yielded per game. The per-game average of field goal attempts is the highest in the league.
  • Barth's matchup is worth a one-week rental from your waiver wire. He's available in nearly every polled league.

Mike Nugent, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Connor Barth
Barth can kick it, yes he can
Nugent was one of the better fantasy kickers up until his Week 6 bye. Many have rightfully jumped back on the bandwagon; he buried two of his three field goal tries last week and is 14-for-16 on the year, including 3-for-5 from 40-plus yards out. His long of 54 this year tied a career high.
  • Miami has yielded 2.33 field goal attempts and 3.00 extra point setups per game, with each average ranking among the 10 highest figures in their respective categories. With his bye out of the way and a favorable matchup this year, Nugent boasts fantasy value beyond this week.

NEW - Josh Brown, St. Louis Rams vs. Carolina Panthers

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Brown has hit 12 of his 15 field goals this year and hasn't missed in seven tries since Week 3. He has connected on all 12 of his extra points.
  • Carolina is giving up 2.67 field goal attempts and 1.67 extra point attempts per game. They're also surrendering the seventh most kicking points per game to this position.
  • The Rams could have trouble punching the ball in this week if running back Steven Jackson (finger) doesn't go. What about moving the ball? Quarterback Sam Bradford continues to improve and should have another weapon, wideout Mardy Gilyard (hamstring), at his disposal this week.
