Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley was 4-for-22 (.182) in the National League Championship Series with no home runs and one RBI, according to MLB.com's Barry M. Bloom.


Outfielder

San Francisco Giants OF Andres Torres (hip, groin) injured his left hip and upper groin area while running to first base during the top of the ninth inning in Game 6 of the NLCS Saturday, Oct. 23, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Mercury News. He was replaced on defense by OF Aaron Rowand in the bottom of the ninth inning. Torres said he expected to be fine for Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday, Oct. 27.

San Francisco Giants OF Cody Ross was named National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player, according to Associated Press reporter Rob Maaddi.

Texas Rangers SP Cliff Lee will start Game 1 of the World Series against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, Oct. 27, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. Manager Ron Washington said SPs Colby Lewis and C.J. Wilson will start the following two games, although he is unsure which order they will pitch in. A decision on the Game 4 starter has not yet been made, with SPs Derek Holland and Tommy Hunter considered to be the favorites.


Relief Pitcher

The Texas Rangers could add a right-handed reliever to their World Series roster as a result of the San Francisco Giants' lineup being heavily right-handed, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. RP Mark Lowe is a candidate to be added to the 25-man roster.

Updating previous reports, New York Yankees RP Damaso Marte (shoulder) underwent left shoulder surgery to fix a torn labrum Friday, Oct. 22, according to Meredith Marakovits of 1050 ESPN. He will not resume throwing until after the 2011 All-Star break.

RP | Hisanori Takahashi | New York Mets | Fantasy
Peter Greenberg, the agent for New York Mets P Hisanori Takahashi, said negotiations between the two sides have gotten underway but he would not say how far talks have progressed, according to David Waldstein of The New York Times. Takahashi can become a free agent if the Mets do not sign him by Sunday, Oct. 31, but he would be ineligible to pitch for the club before May 15 if he decides to return to the club after being granted free agency.
