Quarterback

QB | Matt Flynn | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers QB Matt Flynn said he was preparing himself to play in Week 6 and expected to get the bulk of the snaps in practice Wednesday, Oct. 13, according to Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. However, according to Flynn, based on his conversations with QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion), he didn't think the concussion Rodgers suffered in Week 5 had affected him greatly. Flynn said he talked to Rodgers both after the game and Monday, Oct. 11, and didn't sense he was suffering from some of the worst symptoms of a concussion. "I think with some of those things, if it's not really severe you can't really tell," Flynn said. "I don't know how severe his is. I don't know what the doctor said, but we talked as we normally do after games, normal conversation." On the plane ride home, Flynn said, he played cards with Rodgers as they normally do and didn't sense he had suffered any memory loss. The coaches will probably come up with a game plan for both quarterbacks this week, but Flynn wasn't writing Rodgers off this week at all. "Hopefully, he'll be ready," Flynn said. "If not, I'll be ready."

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (shoulder) continues to make progress in returning from his sprained right shoulder, but the best estimate is that he will miss one more game this week before returning after the team's bye week, according to Brad Biggs, of NationalFootballPost.com. That would get Stafford back in action for the team's Oct. 31 game.

Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (elbow) was affected by tendinitis in his elbow in the team's Week 5 game, according to Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Favre admits the tendinitis is getting worse as the schedule goes on.

QB | Bruce Gradkowski | Oakland Raiders | Injury
Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said QB Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) will start the team's Week 6 game if he is healthy enough to play, according to Steve Corkran, of the Oakland Tribune. Gradkowski had an MRI on his shoulder Monday, Oct. 11, to determine the extent of the injury to his A-C joint. Results won't be released until Wednesday, Oct. 13.

QB | Brett Ratliff | Cleveland Browns | Transaction
The Cleveland Browns have signed QB Brett Ratliff off the New England Patriots' practice squad, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. He has been told he will be the No. 2 quarterback in Week 6.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary said QB Alex D. Smith will remain as the starting quarterback at this time, reports Matt Barrows, of the Sacramento Bee.

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said he is optimistic that QB Jay Cutler (concussion) has a chance to play in Week 6, reports Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune. Smith said Cutler will be evaluated daily.

Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (groin) is unlikely to play again this season because of a groin injury, predicts Ryan O'Halloran, of CSNWashington.com. "I have no doubt I'll recover from this injury. Hopefully it's in a Redskins uniform," Portis said. Portis does not sound like a player who will make a return to the field this season.

Wide Receiver

St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said Monday, Oct. 11, that WR Danario Alexander would be considered as the team looks for a replacement for WR Mark Clayton (knee), who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 5, according to Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Alexander, a member of the team's practice squad, has had four surgeries on his left knee, the last roughly nine months ago. Atrophy weakened his left thigh, and Alexander has been working in the weight room and with the trainers to try to rebuild the muscle mass. "We'll certainly look at Danario," Spagnuolo said. "He's excited about doing it." However, Spagnuolo was careful not to commit to anything. "We want to make sure he's OK physically," Spagnuolo said. "He's been doing a good job for us. I get the interest and all that. But the health of the player to me is important. So, we'll see."

His return will cut into the playing time of WRs Brandon Tate and Taylor Price, and it allows some of the team's younger receivers more time to develop in the system. The Patriots will be moving forward without a true No. 1 receiver.

WR Eddie Royal may be the full-time return man in Week 6.

He now is out of a protective boot and awaiting word from the trainers on how to proceed. "It's day-by-day," Henderson said. "Right now, it feels better since I've been off it for the whole week." Head coach Tom Cable said Henderson is expected to miss at least one more week and perhaps as many as four.


Linebacker

"Right now, it's very sore and very swollen," said Revis, who didn't believe that he strained his left hamstring again. "As of right now, we're going to take it day by day like we've been doing and see how it goes."
