"I talked to our team doctor and I talked to (specialist) Dr. James Andrews and they thought it would be a good time to try and throw a football and see how it feels," Stafford said. When asked whether he could start throwing this week and still be ready to play in Week 5, Stafford said, "We'll see."

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released QB Todd Bouman, according to a source, reports Tania Ganguli, of The Florida Times-Union.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
A former Philadelphia Eagles orthopedist who is not involved in QB Michael Vick's (rib) treatment said Vick could miss anywhere from two to six weeks with his injury, reports Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News. Dr. Art Bartolozzi said Vick will first have to get to the point where he can take a deep breath, after cracking the tissue that connects the ribs to the breastbone. Then, "the rib cage and muscles will have to stabilize." Bartolozzi said a throwing motion will aggravate the injury, if Vick tries to play before it completely heals.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady became the fastest quarterback in the Super Bowl era to reach 100 wins, reports The Associated Press. Brady threw for just 153 yards and a touchdown while completing 19 of 24 passes against the Miami Dolphins during Week 4.

QB | Chad Henne | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins QB Chad Henne hit 29 of 39 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions during a Week 4 loss to the New England Patriots. After his third interception and the game out of reach, he was pulled with over six minutes left to play, reports The Associated Press. His three interceptions tied a career high. Henne took the blame on his shoulders following the game. "Overall, it's my fault," he said.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
St. Louis Rams rookie QB Sam Bradford felt he didn't play very well during the team's Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks after watching film of the game, reports Bill Coats, of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bradford hit 23 of 41 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns with a QB rating of 84.3. Bradford said he thought he missed some easy throws and was off target on others. "I think I've got a lot of room for improvement," Bradford said. He noted he feels like he has improved each week this year and has become more comfortable.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger returned to the team Monday, Oct. 4, with the completion of his four-game suspension, reports Ed Bouchette, of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Roethlisberger said it was good to return to the team and is excited to be back playing football. Roethlisberger said he spent time daily working out with a quarterbacks coach and wide receivers during his time away from the team.

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith seemed optimistic the team will have starting QB Jay Cutler (concussion) back soon, reports The Associated Press. However, Smith would not say how severe the concussion was that Cutler suffered during a Week 4 loss to the New York Giants. Cutler was feeling OK Monday, Oct. 4, at the team's practice facility, but his Week 5 status against the Carolina Panthers is in question. Cutler was sacked nine times during Week 4 before leaving the game for good.

QB | Jake Delhomme | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns QB Jake Delhomme (ankle) is getting closer to return from his ankle injury and has a chance to start in Week 5, reports Mary Kay Cabot, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.


Running Back

RB | Clinton Portis | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (groin) said during a radio interview Tuesday, Oct. 5, he does not expect to play in the team's Week 5 game because of a groin injury but hopes to return to the lineup soon, according to Jason Reid, of The Washington Post. Portis said he had not yet received results of an MRI exam of his groin, which he injured in Week 4, but is not optimistic about playing in Week 5. "I don't think so," Portis said. "I don't think the team would even let me attempt to go and try to play on Sunday."

RB | Beanie Wells | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells is frustrated over his role and he intends to meet with head coach Ken Whisenhunt, according to Bob McManaman, of The Arizona Republic. "I didn't get into the game until there were four minutes left in the second quarter and I have no clue as to why. I'd like to think I'm a big part of this thing, but right now, I don't feel it." Wells, who had just five carries for 19 yards in the team's Week 4 loss, said he planned to meet privately with head coach Ken Whisenhunt to discuss his displeasure.

RB | Frank Gore | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore once again was the team's leading receiver during Week 4, reports Matthew Barrows, of The Sacramento Bee. The 49ers offense may be more diverse under Mike Johnson, but Gore continued to be the focal point of the offense. He had seven receptions for 60 yards, and it was the third consecutive game he had at least 50 yards receiving.

RB | Darren McFadden | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) was moving rather stiffly through the locker room Monday, Oct. 4, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. He said he was feeling all right, but McDonald speculates McFadden will miss the team's Week 5 game against the San Diego Chargers and possibly longer. McFadden missed about three weeks of action during training camp with a hamstring injury.

RB | Michael Bush | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders RB Michael Bush (thumb) could be in for a heavy workload against the San Diego Chargers in Week 5, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. RBs Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Michael Bennett (hamstring) both suffered hamstring injuries during Week 4, so Bush may see his number called often. The team may also work FB Rock Cartwright into the mix. Bush plans to ditch the protective wrap on his left thumb that he has worn since suffering a hand injury during the preseason.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Buffalo Bills | Fantasy
The Philadelphia Eagles have contacted the Buffalo Bills about the availability of RB Marshawn Lynch, according to the Burlington County Times' Reuben Frank. Lynch has just 37 carries for 164 yards in four games this year.

RB | Dimitri Nance | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
The Green Bay Packers are considering other options for returning kickoffs besides WR Jordy Nelson, who fumbled twice in Week 4, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Mike Vandermause. RB Dimitri Nance and CB Patrick Lee are both options.

Carolina Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett has been arrested for driving while impaired for the second time in less than three years, according to The Associated Press. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokesman Bob Fey says Jarrett was pulled over on I-77 in Charlotte early Tuesday, Oct. 5. No other details were immediately available. He was released on $2,000 bond.

WR | Steve Breaston | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has not ruled out WR Steve Breaston (knee) from playing in the team's Week 5 game, but he will need to see noticeable progress in practice this week, according to Bob McManaman, of The Arizona Republic. "I'm progressing well," Breaston said, "and hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later."

WR | Randy Moss | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Randy Moss was held without a catch during a Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins, reports The Associated Press. It was the first time since 2006 that Moss failed to catch at least one pass in a game he played in. He was targeted just once during the game, and the pass deflected off of his hands in the end zone. Moss was covered by Miami CB Vontae Davis most of the game. The last time he was shut out was Nov. 19, 2006.

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (knee) did some light work during practice Monday, Oct. 4, reports Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News. He did not take part in practice. Witten is dealing with a sprained MCL in his right knee. He had his knee wrapped during the media portion of practice, and added a brace to the outside of his knee. Witten, who has missed one game during his career, said he could have played during Week 4 had the team not had a bye week.

TE | Martellus Bennett | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Dallas Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett (ankle) did not take part in practice Monday, Oct. 4, reports Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News. He tweaked an ankle injury he had earlier this summer, but plans to return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 6. Bennett received treatment during the team's bye week.

TE | Shawn Nelson | Buffalo Bills | Injury
Buffalo Bills TE Shawn Nelson (groin) underwent surgery on his groin roughly four weeks ago and rejoined the team Monday, Oct. 4, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown. Nelson said he is almost done with rehab from his surgery. It is unknown if he will be able to play in Week 5.

Minnesota Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) said he is making progress from his hamstring injury, reports 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero.

Seattle Seahawks OT Russell Okung (ankle) made it through the team's Week 4 game without re-injuring his ankle, reports Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times. Okung is expected to practice Tuesday, Oct. 5. The Seahawks have a Week 5 bye.


Guard

OG | Chester Pitts | Seattle Seahawks | Free Agents
It appears free-agent OL Chester Pitts will re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks, reports Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times. Pitts indicated on his Twitter account that he is rejoining the team. The Seahawks have not announced his re-signing so far.

OG | Chilo Rachal | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
San Francisco 49ers RG Chilo Rachal (undisclosed) left the team's Week 4 game in the third quarter and was replaced by Adam Snyder, reports Matthew Barrows, of The Sacramento Bee. Rachal struggled the previous week against the Kansas City Chiefs, too, but head coach Mike Singletary said the move was made because of an injury. Rachal, however, did not immediately appear on the team's injury report and was not tended to by trainers after he left the game.

OG | Kyle Kosier | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Dallas Cowboys G Kyle Kosier (knee) did not have any problems going through practice Monday, Oct. 4, and said he feels like he is going to play during Week 5, reports Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News. He said the week off and the treatment he received helped him respond quickly. It was originally believed he might miss two to four weeks with a sprained MCL in his right knee.


Defensive Line

DL | Shaun Ellis | New York Jets | Injury
New York Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee) went for an MRI exam Monday, Oct. 4, on his injured left knee and, as expected, it showed no significant damage, according to a league source, reports Rich Cimini, of ESPNNewYork.com. Ellis is "fine," the source said, and he should be ready to play in Week 5. The Jets should know more Wednesday, Oct. 6, when they begin on-the-field preparations with a light practice.

DL | Derrick Morgan | Tennessee Titans | Injury
Tennessee Titans DL Derrick Morgan (knee) will miss the rest of the season after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in Week 4, according to The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. Morgan will undergo surgery and be placed on the Injured Reserve list. He should be ready for training camp next year.

DL | Marcus Stroud | Buffalo Bills | Injury
Buffalo Bills DE Marcus Stroud (ankle) said he plans to participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 6, reports Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com. Stroud did not play in Week 4 because of an ankle injury.

DL | Mathias Kiwanuka | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka (neck) said he hopes to be able to play in Week 5, reports Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News. He said he was getting a second opinion on his bulging disc in his neck Monday, Oct. 4.


Linebacker

LB | Brandon Chillar | Green Bay Packers | Injury
There is growing concern regarding Green Bay Packers LB Brandon Chillar's (shoulder) shoulder injury, according to Rob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Chillar has undergone additional tests and his agent, Jim Ivler, said he expects to know the prognosis in a couple of days. Chillar was injured in Week 3 and didn't play in Week 4. He has had a previous injury to the same shoulder. "I hope it isn't season-ending, don't think it is, but I'm not going to rule out that it's not possible," Ivler said. "By Wednesday, we'll probably have a better idea." Ivler said the initial MRI was inconclusive.

LB | Paul Kruger | Baltimore Ravens | Injury
Baltimore Ravens LB Paul Kruger (knee) has damaged the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and he is expected to miss two to four weeks, according to Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. Surgery, however, is not an option at this time.

LB | Manny Lawson | San Francisco 49ers | Injury
San Francisco 49ers LB Manny Lawson (knee) and S Reggie Smith (hamstring) were both injured during Week 4, reports Matthew Barrows, of The Sacramento Bee. However, neither player missed playing time due to the injuries.

LB | Quentin Groves | Oakland Raiders | Injury
Oakland Raiders LB Quentin Groves (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during Week 4, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers.

LB | Brian Cushing | Houston Texans | Fantasy
Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing returned to the team Monday, Oct. 4, with the end of his four-game suspension, reports The Associated Press. Head coach Gary Kubiak said Cushing will play during Week 5 against the New York Giants. Cushing, who was Defensive Rookie of the Year and recorded 133 tackles last year, will go through an individual workout Tuesday, Oct. 5, and the team returns to practice the following day.

LB | Nick Barnett | Green Bay Packers | Injury
Green Bay Packers LB Nick Barnett (wrist) has been diagnosed with a wrist sprain and is undergoing more tests Monday, Oct. 4, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Mike Vandermause.

LB | LeRoy Hill | Seattle Seahawks | Injury
Seattle Seahawks LB LeRoy Hill (Achilles') has been suspended one game and fined two game checks for his domestic assault case, reports Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Hill is currently on Injured Reserve with an Achilles' tendon injury.


Cornerback

New Orleans Saints CB Tracy Porter (knee) is expected to miss two to four weeks after suffering an apparent sprained medial collateral ligament injury in his left knee in Week 4, according to a league source, reports Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

FS | Darren Sharper | New Orleans Saints | Injury
New Orleans Saints FS Darren Sharper (knee) could potentially return in two weeks, according to Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Sharper will be eligible to be activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list after six weeks. He can return to practice at that time, and the Saints will have a three-week window to decide if they want to activate him or not. Sharper, who is still recovering from an early-April knee surgery, said that he's hoping to return during the first week he is eligible. "I know I can play now," Sharper said. "Will I be better a month from now? Yes. Will I be better two months from now? Yes. So it's going to be a process of getting better and healthier each and every day that passes. But could I play right now? I think that I can."

FS | Taylor Mays | San Francisco 49ers | Depth Chart Tidbit
San Francisco 49ers rookie S Taylor Mays started in place of Michael Lewis during Week 4, reports Matthew Barrows, of The Sacramento Bee. Mays caught a blocked punt during the game and was able to tap his toes at the back of the end zone to score a touchdown. Mays finished the game with a team-leading 11 tackles.
