Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league. Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly. Key
Corner infieldersChris Davis, 1B, Texas Rangers
Again? Seriously? Doesn't he need a job? The Rangers, 11 days short of the end of the regular season, don't have a clear plan at first base. Jorge Cantu is so far a busted acquisition, and Mitch Moreland, after a promising start, has fizzled. Last night, Davis doubled in three at-bats and drew two free passes. It was his first start in the majors since July. At this point, Texas would probably settle for someone who gets on base. Davis doesn't put the ball in play often enough, but he draws walks and, as you know, hits the ball really hard and, sometimes, really far. Will they stick with it? No way of knowing. But if you're looking for prayers and difference makers, where else will you turn? Shallow mixed: Watch Deep mixed: Consider AL-only: Acquire OutfieldersChris Carter, OF, Oakland Athletics Would you pick up a hitter with four hits in his first 40 big league at-bats? And trust him for the season's final week and a half, when a title hangs in the balance? You would if a few more homers would make big difference and thought that this player might suddenly be of assistance in that manner. Carter, 23, remains one of the game's best power-hitting prospects. He slugged .540 in the minors. He belted 31 ding dongs for Triple-A Sacramento this season. He strikes out. He began his career 0-for-33. He's four for his last seven, with his first homer on Wednesday. You can do worse than taking a shot on a kid who has a ton of raw ability and may get into a little groove to wind 2010 down.
