Brandon Wood, 3B/SS, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Erick Aybar (sports hernia) will miss the rest of the season, meaning that Wood is in line for regular at-bats - like he has received in the club's past four games. He's 2-for-15 with a homer and seven strikeouts in that stretch. He has obviously disappointed with his .157 batting average and four home runs in 204 at-bats.

It seems unlikely that the Angels will commit to Wood as an everyday player, but they have a couple of weeks to evaluate him a bit more ... if they stick with him.

Pitchers

Phil Coke, RP, Detroit Tigers

Jim Leyland will let Coke close while Jose Valverde (shoulder) is out indefinitely. Coke has had his fair share of issues with walks, and he's a riskier play on the road. He's at home this week, but don't rule out appearances from potential closer-in-waiting Ryan Perry. Maybe you need someone like Coke who could pick up a save or three.
