In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Texas Rangers RP Neftali Feliz
    Feliz: making hitters say "Da-da"
Though Bobby Jenks (forearm) hopes he can return in time for the Chicago White Sox's West Coast trip starting Monday, manager Ozzie Guillen isn't certain of that. "I cannot say the date [of Jenks' return] because I don't hear anything positive about the situation."
A second opinion on Jenks' injury revealed he has a stretched nerve in his forearm and prescribed treatment and anti-inflammatory medication. In the meantime, expect Chris Sale, Matt Thornton and J.J. Putz to remain the hierarchy for saves.
  • The Detroit Tigers, on the other hand, welcomed back closer Jose Valverde, who hadn't pitched since Sept. 6 due to elbow discomfort. He worked a scoreless eighth inning in non-save duty Wednesday.
  • Neftali Feliz returned to the Texas Rangers Wednesday, one day after being unavailable due his wife giving birth. Feliz worked a scoreless ninth inning in non-save work.
