Outfielders

Aaron Rowand, OF, San Francisco Giants

Andres Torres had an emergency appendectomy on Sunday and will miss a week and a half to two weeks. The likeliest beneficiary is Rowand, who was a starter before Torres emerged and the club acquired 17 other outfielders. Rowand started in center on Sunday.

Rowand went 0-for-5 at the top spot in the lineup and has batted a meager .231, with 10 homers and five stolen bases, in 320 at-bats this season. The right-handed hitter has often provided solid depth for deep mixed leaguers, and he's not washed up. However, he and Cody Ross, also a right-handed hitter, may have to wrestle for at-bats. Stay tuned, at least if you need some short-term help.
