Davis has been a borderline mixed league contributor for most of the season. He's a little hotter than borderline lately, thanks to an adjustment. The left-handed hitter, quite patient, has been more aggressive when he sees fastballs away. Pitchers can't rely on that method to attack him anymore.

It's a contextual element for his last seven games: He's 10-for-24 (.417) with three homers and seven RBIs. You might be able to afford to cut bait with some other underperformer in favor of the rookie to see if he keeps it up.

Pitchers

Jeff Francis, SP, Colorado Rockies

On Monday, Francis (biceps) will rejoin the Rockies' rotation, offsetting to a degree the loss of Aaron Cook (broken leg).

Francis is a risky fantasy option. He has put together a few quality fantasy outings, but they're mixed in with rough starts. He has also been unable to remain healthy since 2007. He has the ability to be a low-end mixed commodity, but too many factors are still working against him.

One positive: The Rockies are going on a patented late-season run. Francis will be on a relatively low pitch count and doesn't come recommended for this outing versus the San Diego Padres, regardless.
