In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Houston Astros RP Brandon Lyon
    Lyon's claws have been sharp
Brandon Lyon notched the Houston Astros save last night, his fifth of the year. Over his last 15 games (15 1/3 innings), Lyon has a 2.93 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and a .189 opponents' clip.
Be careful of Lyon's unsettling dominance rate (6.21 K/9 this year) and shaky control (4.19 BB/9). But owners desperate for saves must take the closure opps with the possible shakiness and potential Wilton Lopez substitutions.
  • On Thursday, Leo Nunez worked around a leadoff homer and a one-out single in nailing down his second save in as many nights. The Florida Marlins' righty has been staring at the threat of a closer committee for the last week. It seems as if he's doing enough to stave it off, even with his 6.43 August ERA.
