Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - AL

Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly.

Outfielders

Trevor Crowe, OF, Cleveland Indians

The Indians optioned Michael Brantley to Triple-A Columbus and will bat Crowe at leadoff again. The switch-hitting Crowe has batted only .222 in 180 at-bats at the top spot, but he has swiped nine bases from it. Are you looking for ways to make up ground in stolen bases and runs?

Cleveland Indians OF Trevor Crowe
This Crowe flies

This move isn't for the long term - the Tribe plan to recall Brantley in the near future - but Cleveland is playing better baseball now that they're committing to some of their youth. Crowe (.256 BA, 10 steals, 32 runs in 250 at-bats) has been solid.

Jason Repko, OF, Minnesota Twins

While Justin Morneau (concussion) is out, Minnesota is going to try its luck with different lineup combos. Repko received his fifth straight start for the Twinkies today. In those five contests, he's 8-for-23 with two homers, four RBIs and seven runs.

It's a little early to believe that the Twins rescued Repko from the former-prospect scrapheap, but taking a chance on such players - especially in keeper leagues - can pay off big. Repko was a first-rounder for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999, but injuries demolished his career.

Is this another Jayson Werth-like case? Repko looks healthy, energetic and composed at the dish. It's a total long shot, but one never knows.

Pitchers

Luke French, SP, Seattle Mariners

The M's placed Ryan Rowland-Smith (back) on the DL and recalled French to take the spot. Oui, oui, the southpaw has been successful at Triple-A Tacoma (2.94 ERA, 63 K's, 23 walks in 113 1/3 innings), but not in his 12 2/3 frames in the bigs (nine earned runs).

French doesn't appear to meet any statistical criteria for big league success, so view him as Seattle's band-aid only.
