Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league. Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly. Key
CatchersThe Mets placed Rod Barajas (oblique) on the DL, so Thole is the starter. Thole is 13-for-31 (.419) in his limited time. He has no real power to speak of, but he hits for average, laces plenty of liners and posts BABIPs above .300 regularly. His current BA mark will fall, but he easily fits the "at least he won't hurt you" fantasy backstop profile. And he could easily help. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch NL-only: Acquire Corner infieldersLogan Morrison, 1B/OF, Florida Marlins
The Fish placed Chris Coghlan (knee) on the DL and recalled Morrison from Triple-A New Orleans, where the latter was hitting .307 with six homers and 45 RBIs in 238 at-bats. Morrison is patient; he may not take much time to adjust to major league pitching and be able to hit for average. Morrison is one of the better prospects in baseball. He hasn't displayed his 20- to 25-homer power thanks to wrist and shoulder ailments. However, regular playing time and continued health should allow him to regain his power stroke slowly. Morrison, a left-handed hitter, is expected to split time with Emilio Bonifacio in left field (where Morrison could earn eligibility). But someone may begin to win out here. Bonifacio is a switch-hitter and more of the leadoff type that the Marlins don't have without Coghlan, who may miss most of the rest of the season. Florida could move Hanley Ramirez to the top of the order, facilitating the use of Morrison. What gives Morrison a little long-term viability, besides his prospect status, is that the Fish seem likely to trade Jorge Cantu. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch NL-only: Acquire OutfieldersMelky Cabrera, OF, Atlanta Braves The Braves are running out of patience with Nate McLouth (.168 BA), who can't seem to shake his struggles even after some adjustments he made on a recent minor league rehab stint. Atlanta may stick with Cabrera in center on more permanent basis. This year he's hitting .263 (.298 since May 10) and plays excellent defense, like McLouth does. Cabrera doesn't provide much power or speed, but when he's a regular player, he provides solid fantasy depth.
